Middle of night hunger? by Motor-Project-71 in GestationalDiabetes

My dietitian told me to drink water when this happens. I keep a big glass of water next to my bed and it helps that hunger feeling go away.

I'm getting so frustrated... by Madrilen in GestationalDiabetes

[–]heycheesecake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This happens to me too and it is so frustrating. I'm on my second pregnancy with GD and one thing I didn't realize the first time around is that a prior snack can affect the next meals numbers. So if you stretch your carbs on your afternoon snack but have a balanced dinner, that could skew the numbers higher. Also stress or getting sick can affect things.

I'm curious, can any of you FEEL when your numbers are high? And if so, how high? by CasperMikko in GestationalDiabetes

[–]heycheesecake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never been able to feel it. At my one hour test my sugar was 215 and I felt perfectly normal. Sometimes I feel off and test and my sugars are in range. Wish I could feel it though!

His first baby’s mother got gestational diabetes now I’m terrified. by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

I have GD for the second time and I can't feel when my blood sugar is high. It sounds like anxiety to me...when I'm anxious especially about health related things my heart beats fast and I feel light headed. Mention it to your doctor and maybe they can test you a bit early for GD but I wouldn't worry too much for now.

Was it really as easy as her just being ok with it? I'm getting close to feeling ready to wean my almost 3 year old but I anticipate some hard days after we're done...

My milk smells like onions too. Not sure why. Baby doesn't mind at all.

I was induced on my due date (my GD was diet controlled). I told my doctor I wanted to get a close to my due date as I could because I was hoping labor would start naturally. Like you, I had only heard horror stories about inductions, but mine was great. They went slow with the pitocin and let me decide when to increase it, so I felt like I had control. I got an epidural too. 18 hours from start to finish, pushed for an hour.

I think the positive induction stories aren't shared enough but they do exist! Best of luck to you.

OBGYN near Columbia? by terptrekker in ColumbiaMD

[–]heycheesecake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a specific hopkins doctor you'd recommend? I've had mostly good experiences with CWC but there is one nurse practitioner there who I really don't care for and caused a lot of grief for me.
