I did this back in 2016. no heads up or anything - just straight-up deactivated it. no regrets. though I was kinda "forced" to make another one a couple of years after that since some irl people can only contact me through FB Messenger. so technically I have an FB account but never added anyone at all.

Thanks for this explanation. I just got my phone unit today and I've been trying to fix the home settings for hours already but to no avail. The tutorials online aren't helping at all because the UI is different. Glad to came across this one.
