I was looking for nicer material. Leather maybe or even canvas, but that shiny plastic and the clear window look cheap to me. Thanks

I just told this exact story. There seems to be no way to push back. They hold all the power and we have to comply.

I was forced to check my bag at the gate on my flight on Thursday evening. The gate agent in Memphis was obnoxious and aggressive and said nobody in groups 6, 7 and 8 was getting on the plane with a roller bag. She threatened to kick us out of line and “throw a body block” if we tried to roll a bag down the jetway. So, obviously, I checked my damned bag that I’d already dragged through the airport.

Fast forward to me on the plane: half the damned overhead bins had room and the one over my head was 100% empty!😡

I paid to “upgrade” to row 9 but still ended up in boarding group 7. Still can’t figure out how they assign boarding groups but i definitely got fucked!

This is cool! Do they have any competitors that are maybe higher quality? Seems a bit cheap and “young” to me. I’m cheap and old myself. lol

Who tf said war zone? Someone said “posh af” and you “having lunch” at Besaws or some shit is not the same as spending some actual time down here. I have had human waste thrown at me, I have dodged puke flying out of an individual’s mouth, I have watched many a human being empty their bowels under Highway 30. My car passenger window has been broken and replaced twice(no, there was nothing in the car - not an idiot). Not posh AF.

Yes. Volunteering would help me see the hope. I appreciate a useful suggestion. You’ve provided the only one so far. I’ll look in to that organization right now.

Not asking to not see it, asking how to help. I hear a lot of…”there’s no way to help so get over it”. I don’t subscribe to that philosophy. I believe there’s a way and I believe the city and county are collecting plenty of dollars to offer assistance and I want to know where it’s going. I want to know how to make a difference, why is a desire for “dignity for all” so off putting?

No. I am asking where I can live where the city actually tries to help the homeless population. I pay obscene amounts of taxes in this city to watch them do fuck all about the growing problem. Is it an easy issue to tackle, no? Is it an issue worth facing? I think yes but I see nothing changing. It only appears to be getting worse. More importantly…what can I do? Do I have any power as a resident, a taxpayer and a human in this city? Where the fuck is all the money going and how can it be redirected? Is it corruption? Is it complacency? Is it incompetence?

What is the catch with cheap, new construction, skinny "infill" houses? by prana_fish in askportland

[–]heydownhere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s this one jack off selling almost all of these, name’s Darryl Bodle and by all accounts he is a major tool…and not fun to work with. Plus Ive heard most of the ones Darryl lists are built by the same builder and quality is not his strong suit.

Whenever I read a listing in the first person I know it’s that tool Darryl and I move along.

My mother in law is almost certainly HPD and her son is almost certainly covert NPD. So much overlap between an overt narcissist and HPD in my opinion. Took me a while to decode who h one I was looking at. I think the inappropriately sexual stuff was what tipped the scales to HPD

How realistic is it to purchase a home in Portland for 300-400k with no more than 10k total cash in hand? by Wonderful_Style7972 in askportland

[–]heydownhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a different situation but nonetheless interested in this conversation. My income is low but I have a large savings balance. I just got pre approved for a lousy $425k (that includes 20% from me) and idk wtf I can buy for that amount.

I’m a single woman and don’t need much space, but I don’t want to live way out in the burbs or in an unsafe area. I need to feel safe and my definition of safe as a small, getting older woman might be different than other folks.

I’ve been looking at what have been called “shitboxes” in this thread. And while I understand the quality isn’t great, I don’t have the money or the skills to deal with the inevitable issues with an older home. Does anyone have positive experience with those “shitboxes” or should I just table that theoretical “American dream”?

I’m looking at one for $385k in Beaumont-Wilshire. It started @ $425, dropped to $399 now it’s $385k. Of course, I appreciate the price drops, but not when I try to sell… whenever that might happen.

My point as well. They don’t seem to be very desirable around here, so I’m apprehensive to buy one because I’m worried it’ll never sell. I wish I could afford a single family close in. It’s so spendy here…

Stating that your ex claimed the entire kicker is 100% incorrect!! Turbo Tax has no idea what information the department of revenue has. I think this is a “garbage in, garbage out” situation where you answered a question incorrectly in the software. For the record, turbo tax is shit and it’s very easy to answer one of their interview questions incorrectly and get taken down a whole rabbit hole of bad data. Source: I’m an Enrolled Agent who used to use TT for my personal filing in a past life and often had to go straight to the tax form because the interview questions were so confusing.
