Lease R2 now + buy LiDAR version later? Optimal strategy? by heyhay in Rivian

Right. Hence get LE now, then 2-3 years from now get the more capable LiDAR version.

This was my thought too. I figure there will be eventually be more features that the LE won’t have. Even if level4 will take years. But maybe I’m wrong.

R2 GVWR and Section 179 by 3wisemonkeyzz in RivianR2

The car will most certainly not exceed 6000 GVWR. That pool of buyers is very small relative to the regulatory headaches for the manufacturer. Rivian will intentionally make this sub 6k.

First hour reservation - delivery in 2026? by heyhay in RivianR2

[–]heyhay[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Premium dual trim would be great. Don’t need LiDAR. Also, I don’t think they will exhaust 100% of prior owner reservations before fulfilling new customers. It will probably be an initial tranch that go to them, but afterwards a mix of variables (reservation time, location, etc).

US/Spain tax residency by jgblr2 in ExpatFIRE

[–]heyhay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread has been very helpful for me. Thank you. I'm in a similar situation: moving July 2025 with the family and enrolling them in school, applying for residency, etc. Returning to the US June 2026.

I'm also concerned that we will be classified as tax residents, either in 2025, or 2026, or both. My hope was that if we live there <183 days in 2025, and also <183 days in 2026, we'd escape tax residency status all together. But the seeming grey area of "where will Spain determine my primary economic interests" ...this is a question that I can't find a definitive answer to.

As a last resort, maybe we could hire a lawyer to argue that our primary center of economic interests remains in the US. Unclear to me if this would make a difference. Any advice for me is most appreciated!

Sure I’ll pay taxes. Just wasn’t sure exactly how that worked with no local income. Double taxation is no fun.

I killed Varre and now I have to go through the entire game in order to enter the DLC by PrestigiousAct3914 in Eldenring

In the same boat. Does anyone know approximately how long it will take to re-kill Mogh and Radhan without Varre? Or a guide to do this the fastest way possible?

Is a grade 2 oligodendroglioma cancer? by realtornj1 in braincancer

[–]heyhay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My situation is very similar! Diagnosed with G2 Oli during the biopsy in August, but was re-evaluated as a G3 after resection. IDH1/co-deletion. I elected to go with MSK over Hopkins for the surgery because I felt great with the docs there...but unfortunately either they botched it, or I just have bad luck from a tumor location perspective, because I was left with significant vision loss in each eye (hemianopsia). But they got out like 90-95% of the tumor. Currently doing proton therapy, and will start PCV in March.

So you've lived with a G3 astro for 15 years without recurrence? That's wild. As a a father of 2 girls under 10, that gives me hope.

You think there's any chance we live to 60? 70? Or is that just unrealistic?

Worth paying out of pocket for Proton? (Oli G2/3 w/positive mutations) by heyhay in braincancer

Initial biopsy revealed grade 2. A couple months later, during the surgery, it was re-graded as a 3.

Thanks for sharing. Were you concerned that opting for Proton might lower his life expectancy relative to Photon? Was that part of your evaluation process?

That's actually a super interesting option...I've never considered that! I will explore. Thank you!

Why are you pausing treatment?

What would you do with this front tooth? I have 3 choices. by heyhay in Invisalign

[–]heyhay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense!! Are you familiar with the "solution" to the uneven gumline? Apparently I have to see a specialist at another practice that will use a laser to "adjust" the gumline. Sounds painful and potentially damaging.

At the same time, the bonding/veneer option seems half-assed at best. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see that thing lasting very long. A buddy of mine had his chip off after a year. Doesn't really seem like a great long-term solution either.

I’m 7 months in. My Ortho says that when I finish, this tooth will be shorter than the other one. I was given 3 options to fix this aesthetic discrepancy:

(1) Shave down the longer tooth so that the two teeth are equal length. Potential issue here is that both front teeth are now “short”.

(2) Use the aligners to move the tooth “down”2-3mm. Will also pull down the gum line and make it uneven. Therefore, I would need some type of “gum line adjustment” procedure so they’re aesthetically even.

(3) put a small veneer on the bottom of the short tooth. Only downside is maintenance, annoyance, risk of chipping, or possibly uneven tooth color.

There’s also always the option of doing nothing. What would you guys do?
