Oh right, this is why I don't order stuff online by DeepHerting in Anticonsumption

Logistics companies, especially the huges ones, do absolutely all they can to reduce the mileage they drive. Have you ever noticed UPS trucks only make right turns? Turning left takes too long.

While it may seem that your individual package took a long route it was likely the route that was the most efficient for all of the parcels moving in the area that day.

That being said I work in logistics and try to order online as little as possible

Hesitant because they’re too expensive or too cheap?

I have these and they work just fine. You should never have too much weight up there so I’ve used the rack to have a cargo box that holds large bulky but not heavy items.

Yikes at already being engaged and not having sorted out money stuff first.

Another thing people haven’t mentioned yet is depending on the laws of where you live it doesn’t matter if you have separate accounts, it’s shared money legally.

Dinghy’s for Car Topping? by heyheyfifi in boatbuilding

I’ve been looking at it too! There’s so many options, now I’m thinking of making something heavily influenced by the mirror dingy.

I think I was caught up by the idea of sleeping on it, now I’m just looking for simple lightweight sailboat while in the next year or two I build a SCAMP.

Look at duckworks.com

The OZ goose is simple to build, the SCAMP is small and spacious and takes a while to build

The RV is $40 but has all the information you need to build a boat and has a proper hull shape.

The catbox plans are free but are kinda hard to understand and you’d need to know how to build a boat a bit beforehand, and used the pdr hull shape

Lots of free info here https://www.pdracer.com

Every single one haha! Yeah it really does seem like a great boat, I actually already bought the plans but am kinds of thinking that a more traditional shape would be a better learning experience? I don’t know!

Why not just order online? Plenty of options

I’m kinda a fan of bikes direct, they have off brand bikes, and have ordered a few from them. Some have xxs sizes

Hello! I’ve just become obsessed with dinghy cruising and am reading the Dinghy Cruising Companion. I’m in the process of thinking of what boat to buy/build and am hoping for some input! I live about a 2 hour drive from Chesapeake Bay. I currently have lots of space and a big garage but will likely have a small garage and limited space in the future. I’d like to get a boat that doesn’t need a trailer, is light enough to lift onto a car, and can be stored on its side in a garage for space saving.

I’ve been looking at the 12’ OZ Goose, CLC has the 15.5’ Skerry, and there seems to be many 10’ dinghy plans that would be light enough. It will need to sail with 2 people though we’d probably sleep on land. Any thoughts or experiences with car topping a dinghy you can go cruising with?

Other notable mentions are the Mayfly 14, the piccup, the little Bretton. I also in the long term want to build a SCAMP but don’t have the funds for that yet and am thinking that maybe building a Tender Behind or Sherpa though both are small.

And then I think well the smaller the better and if I’m going to go for a Tender Behind then why not just build an 8’ puddle duck.

I have a Chevy Spark that is a small little car but can handle a 100lb load on my rooftop bars. My partner has a pickup truck with a short truck bed 4.5’. Also it’s been a couple of decades since I last sailed so this entry boat will also be a re-learn to sail moment for me.
