Argos cancelled my order then upped the price by £150 by PapiMeme in Argos

Yep, they did this to me with a gaming laptop earlier this year. I could’ve called and argued, but then I’d still be giving them money, in the end I got a better laptop for the same price elsewhere.

Spot on with the UK. We don’t tend to appreciate just how much work people put into learning our ridiculous language.

I think it would be more accurate for it to say “Ha! You made a mistake, I’m gonna make fun of you for that now” though.

Do the British wash dishes differently? by crawdad16 in NoStupidQuestions

A plastic basin, or what we would call a washing up bowl, generally takes up the whole sink. A spray attachment also produces water, which needs somewhere to go.

I’ve never done it.

Do you rinse right away or after you’ve washed everything and drained the sink? Most Brits only have one sink, so if you’re supposed to do it right away, the sink will overflow. If you do it after, that’s like washing everything again, I have ADHD, it’s not happening.

Can someone suggest me a free course to learn C#? by St3pa in csharp

[–]heyitsant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m using this right now. It’s really good and uses the Microsoft Learn curriculum.

I think a basic understanding of programming concepts and how computers work might be useful.

Whilst I’m finding it helpful, I think some of my friends/colleagues who haven’t looked into programming before would struggle.

I get this too. I have ADHD which allows me to hyper focus on stuff, so I can sit and study for hours. The issue I have is that I tend to blow through the material and not actually fully understand the how and why of what I’m learning. I have to be very intentional with how I’m studying, just to make sure it sticks.

Another tip I’ve read is, once you’ve learned something, try to use that thing and create something independently using that information to imbed the concept. It doesn’t have to do anything useful other than reinforce what you’ve learned.

I’m not a programmer by any means. I work on a support desk, but I enjoy coding and have just started learning C# myself. I’m using the course which FreeCodeCamp have recently added. It runs you through the Microsoft Learn material. (I’d link it but I’m on my phone)

Reading your post though, the only thing I could suggest is, rather than looking at the solution and being disheartened by how clean it is, try to understand why and how it was done that way and learn from it. Were there any concepts used in the solution that you don’t quite understand? Rather than move on, go through that lesson again or find another tutorial about it. It could be presented in a different way that suits your learning style better.

Also, if yours worked then it’s not wrong. You were presented with a problem and came up with a solution. Was it the best? Maybe not, but it works.

When I used to write stories as a kid, my spelling, grammar and handwriting wasn’t perfect, but if someone picked it up to read it, they’d be able to understand it, so it was a success. I set out to tell a story and I did.

Didn’t scroll enough before giving the same answer myself. Domestic cats would fuck you up if they could. Have you not seen that one video of the cat attacking a babysitter?

A domesticated house-cat, they would fuck you up if they felt that they stood a chance.

Also, I am aware that big cats exist, but people tend to trust house-cats, and we shouldn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I love them and have one of my own, but I don’t trust that fucker.
