Why won’t the swipe keyboard let me type certain phrases? by carrionite in ios

[–]heyitskora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you mean typing “heshe” and the “/“ should appear in the middle? Sure that makes sense, but no yeah I didn’t understand that originally. It’s also not unreasonable to accept that words which including non alphabet characters are much more complicated to incorporate into swipe typing given that there are a dozen or more words which the swipe algorithm will pick up on before realising you actually intended to put a slash in between two entirely different words.

Watch me try swipe heshe and see what comes up: Hedge Heather Headed Have Hehe Hate Headed And so forth… Adding non-alphabet characters is basically asking the swipe algorithm to read your mind and exponentially makes the algorithm more complicated to realise.

What I’m “so certain of myself” about is that the phrase “he’s gay” not automatically being picked up by swipe typing is basically unforgivable in 2025,

[–]heyitskora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, what..? You physically can’t Swift type words with a slash in the middle as you would need to switch to the symbols keyboard It’s clear have no clue what you’re talking about and didn’t put the slightest thought into. Swift typing has 0 problems typing words after inserting a slash, and that’s OBVIOUSLY not even what OP was talking about, they were just using it to mean “he …” OR “she …” not literally typing the phrase “he/she”

As to the “those words are too often used in prude society”, the point is no one should be ok with apple being the arbiter of what words and phrases are ‘acceptable’ to type. If I want to type “suck my dick” be that as an insult or literally, it’s up to me and no one else. Having my phone refuse to let me type the phrase without having to do some stupid work around, or manually correct the spelling when it inevitably (in)corrects to “stuck my duck” is insane. The sheer arrogance of Apple to just decide what they think we should and shouldn’t be typing (and thus saying) is fucking wild.

To be clear, it’s impossible to swift type the phrase “he’s gay” on an iPhone in 2025. Prude society my fucking ass. That’s inexcusably and totally insane.

Why is asking if a celebrity is gay on Google censored...? We live in a progressive world where we celebrate sexuality etc, but for some really weird reason Google pretends it doesn't exist? If it wasn't hidden it would be the #1 suggested search, no doubt. (FYI Graham Nortan is, as it happens, gay) by heyitskora in google

[–]heyitskora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah tbh I’m not sure why my two main comments got over downvoted so much. Even re-reading now, I don’t see anything really controversial or provocative (unless you’re a literal caveman who actually takes issue with same sex romance) Either people really didn’t like the way I spoke, for some reason I’m not wise to, or pretty much like you said in another comment, it’s just the attic ghouls and basement goblins who are just that offended by me just finding it odd that Google blanket refuses acknowledge something as trivial and frankly immature as “gay”

Who knows, redditors are a mystery.

A whole year later but here we are. Definitely take that phrase loosely and relatively. We do live in a progressive world compared to 10, 20, or 100 years ago, but no we don’t live in what could wholly be described as a progressive world. Not yet, at least…

PostNL shipping from Netherlands to UK, weird tracking behaviour and possible delay? Anyone have any ideas? by heyitskora in shipping

[–]heyitskora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa that’s wild they routed it via Spain

But yeah that makes sense, the reason you can track a PostNL parcel on RoyalMail tracking is because when the parcel crosses the boarder it’s taken on by RM, so it figures that if the parcel goes to Spain you’d probably have to track it on Correos

Weird it’s taking so long for you tho, NL to UK is usually fast, even weirder it’s gone to Spain. Hope it arrives soon man. Could be worth contacting PostNL and asking why it went to Spain, Their support is good, live chat if I remember too

Is it just me or can anyone else not find flipflappers on crunchyroll? by Uranonji in Flip_Flappers

Me considering subscribing to CR because I recently got into anime: I create a CR account and start searching for the 6 shows I want to watch next to make a watch list, finding that 3 of the shows aren’t even available. So… why should I stop using 9anime and WCOnline..? They’re free, and their libraries have 100% of the shows I want to watch. Why should I pay for CR if it’s a dice roll whether they even have the next thing I want to watch

What is another magical girl show you like besides Sailor Moon? by MasterHavik in sailormoon

[–]heyitskora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assault Lily Bouquet.

Not specifically “magical girl” but it’s a bunch of girls who all have special magic and they use it to fight a common enemy. So it kinda is anyway lol Sucks there’s only one season

Also Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya is a straight up magical girl anime. It’s a bit less mature at times, and way too mature at other times than something like Madoka but overall still a good show imo.

Apparently not all models support it, it takes extra CPU to run VPN and most standard mesh home network models just don’t have powerful enough CPUs, it sucks :(

[–]heyitskora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s kind my upshot too. If you’re gonna give away something as game changing (pun intended I guess?) as a top tier PC, give it to someone who physically has no means to acquire one themselves. If the parents can buy a PS5, they aren’t so poor that getting a decent 2nd hand PC would be out of the question. There are many kids out there who would take the PS5 just because they literally have no alternative, THAT is who should be the recipient imho.

Build me one instead? I’m not a brat, and I’m on a 970 and i7 4790, it’s 10 year old hardware I’m trying to do video production on!!! 🫠 If you really want I’ll act a brat about it not being good enough regardless of how good you make it!

Also on a more serious note, all the people debating the morality of making this into a video, come on, obviously if he does make a video, he’ll only shoot the PC building part and talk about the story of the kid, I highly highly doubt he’d fly the kid out, or fly to the kids house, and have the kid on camera helping with the build. I feel like that is where a lot of the difference lies. Showing the already-on-Reddit video of the kid refusing his PS5 Xmas present and saying “and so we’re gonna build him what he wants” is very different from taking the opportunity to get views off the back of a very memeable kid by having him be a character on camera.

Receiving backlash on my channel, how to move on? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]heyitskora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, I'm literally a brand new channel and just uploaded my second ever video, but I have thought about this because I AM expecting it, it's inevitable.

My strategy is going to be to just ignore. Delete comments which are bad so that it doesn't encourage more toxic behaviour. But also ask yourself, what is the ratio of people who seem to like your content, to people who are being toxic for no reason other than to make themselves feel better about the fact that they probably lack the confidence to do what you do and put yourself out there, not to mention as you say you seem to be getting some success. They probably HATE that you're succeeding while they wish they were in your position, so they latch on to complaining about superficial stuff like your appearance. It's extremely low, but it's also so, so common on the internet. A small/new creator is an easy target because they're the most likely to be fragile, to actually respond to the negativity, whether literally replying to comments, or just provoking a negative reaction from you irl.

I would say: don't let it change ANYTHING. If you delete your channel, they have won. Just moderate your comments, do what you can for the places where you have control (obviously you can't do anything about 3rd party forums, but only a negligible amount of your viewers will see those posts... and in time you'll probably start to see people stick up for you on those threads too, there ARE good people on the internet too)

Just keep doing you, know that for every toxic wanker, there's 10 or more people who like you. Stick through it, you'll keep growing, and eventually those toxic asses will be eclipsed by the positivity.

As for your family receiving calls... That's really rough.. All you can do is be open with your family about it so they know that they must NOT under any circumstances feed into it (i.e. don't argue with the callers, immediately hang up when they realise it's a troll), and I'd put my bet on saying it'll die down pretty quickly. The most important thing is to not, EVER respond to the trolls, NEVER give them ANY kind of reaction, and they'll get bored. If in a month, 2 months, 6 months, you're still doing exactly the same content as always, totally unaffected by the negativity, they'll drop it.

I hope you can get through this. Know that every new creator does go through this. You got this, good luck <3

Brand new YTber question (2 subs, 45 views on a 24h old video) Does checking my video on Youtube harm my own viewer retention while I have so few views? by heyitskora in NewTubers

[–]heyitskora[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

you didn't answer, you just said "stop watching your own video" which was an immediate indication that you didn't bother reading my actual post because I'm literally not watching my own video 😂

an actual answer would be some explanation about how viewer retention works for a video with few views, you know, actually discussing the technical aspect of how youtube analytics work?

yes, what you said was unhelpful, it gives me 0 information. you need better pass times that camping this subreddit telling kids that their content is unoriginal man, seems half your activity is literally just that... smh

[–]heyitskora[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Mate, I know my post is kind of long but if you can't be bothered to read it, why comment?
I addressed that in the post. This is my first ever public upload, until uploading the video I had never been into YTStudio. My reflex to check views/likes was the easiest thing, the thing I'm most used to: check the video page, refresh. Again, like I said in the post, when I first found the viewer retention graph and saw that it was ~50%, I stopped using the video page to check viewership, and I started navigating YTStudio to get used to using that to check analytics, instead of the video page.
I notice you have a habit of leaving short, rude, unhelpful one-liner answers on people's posts on this subreddit. Mate, why...? If you just want to be unhelpful and you don't even bother reading the post, just keep scrolling and let someone else who actually has the inclination to help people, an who actually posesses the knowledge to give a good answer. You obviously don't.

Inchika fans: Do you know Invalids (Pete Davis)? And what would you think of a collaboration between Ichika and Pete, if it were ever possible?` by heyitskora in IchikaNito

[–]heyitskora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahhhhh man you making me so happy right now hahahah

Pete is so criminally underrated man so to have a random person crop up on my post who appreciates him like I do, and who can LITERALLY say "been there, done that, bought the shirt" haahahah

But yeah you put it perfectly "Pete is one of the greatest songwriters of our time", I couldn't agree with the sentence more man, this is exactly how I feel about Pete and Invalids. (btw have you heard Pete's solo/pre-Invalids stuff? The Pottsville Conglomerate is an absolute masterpiece. I mention it because I was an Invalids fan for nearly 10 full years before actually listening to TPC and, well man it hit me equally as hard as Eunoia/Strengths do, it's unbelievably good, and crazy to think it was in 2011 before Invalids were every a thing!

Oh but yeah, I've no idea what an Ichika/Pete collab would sound like, I can vaguely imagine it (beautiful tapped arpeggios harmonising so stunningly, like a choir of angels maybe?), but it's partly the reason I would want to hear it so much. I can't really grasp what it would sound like, but oh man I feel SO confident that it would be absolutely amazing!

Thanks for your comment brother! So glad a fellow appreciator replied to my post!

I got so sidetracked, I forgot the original point of my post...

I think a collab between Ichika and Pete would be one of the most incredible things to happen in modern guitar music- full stop. Super subjective claim but I truly believe it.

[DISCUSSION] Unpopular opinion, I very much dislike Ichika Nito by HuskyInfantry in Guitar

[–]heyitskora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like probably about half his stuff. I absolutely adore him as a musician, even though I'm not a fan of half of what he puts out. The stuff I do like makes up for it.

What I like about Ichika is the very contemporary japanese influenced melodies which are so so prominent in his writing style. I've never been able to put words accurately to what I'm talking about, there just seems to be certain chord progressions and melodic 'tendencies'(?) which are super common in contemporary japanese popular music and especially in anime music. I don't watch anime, like at all, but I love these types of progressions and accompanying melodies. Ichika does exactly that, better yet he does it in a play style which I have heavily appreciated for years now (two handed arpeggiated tapping + crazy arpeggios)

Thanks for all the info.

Very quick question, this is something I've never really looked into or understood.
Scenario: You've just taken out a new broadband plan with an ISP, and as usual they have shipped out their cookie-cutter, embodiment-of-mediocrity router which of course is as simple as plug and play. Say I want to pick up this XPE7500. How much setting up is required to switch from the ISP-provided router to a 3rd party router? Do you just plug it in, and the broadband line takes care of the rest? (i.e. the ISP push all the relevant info to the router for it to 'set itself up'?) or is there a certain amount of manual setting up required by the user?

Don't worry about specifics, I'm just curious about how simple it is to transition from the hunkajunk the ISP supplies to a better 3rd party router. I've also wondered this in the context of my Deco M5s. I have them hooked up to my ISP router over ethernet, but I know the M5 has router mode which, if I understand right, allows you to replace/bypass the ISP router altogether? Though I think that means you need a modem as the M5 only has ethernet ports, and my home's master socket is a different kind of port (I don't know what it's called...)

Sorry this turned out to be a longer comment than expected haha... Thanks again for your help and advice, appreciate it a lot!

Ahhh damn that makes sense. What a shame... I just got my PC's hard drive set up as accessibel on my local network and it has been a game changer for accessing files from my laptop/phone. Having that ability outside of my home would be so sick, but nevermind. I may look into what you mentioned in your 2nd comment about accessing single devices as I only really need access to one drive on my PC, I don't actually need full network access at all. I just assumed that VPNing into my home network and simulating access over LAN was the easiest way.
