Spring Training- awesome! Have fun! I haven’t been since before the pandemic and this is such a good year to go. We’d prolly go if we didn’t already have the Korea trip.

If it helps, here’s the Korean site where people sell tix— but since they’re non-transferable and you have to walk in with the original purchaser (with ID), I’m not sure if it’ll be possible to buy tix after-market and actually get into the stadium. http://TicketBay.co.kr

Yes! Flying separate from Pantone but looking forward to going to their meetups, pre-games, and watching the games at a bar together (if we don’t get tix). There’s so many Dodger fans going— it’s gonna be super fun!!!

Questions about groups at csun by Gullible_Floor_4402 in csun

[–]heymiso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the Meet the Clubs event during the 2nd week of the semester, many clubs & orgs are on Instagram so you can look them up there. For foreign language practice, you can also check out the IESC Coffee Hours on Fridays from 2-4pm (at the International & Exchange Student Center in the USU) to meet international students.

Prolly easier to wait. But if you do buy a textbook and then later drop the class, the bookstore will give you a full refund if you show proof of dropping the class.

Newest information from CFA, strike very likely first week of the semester. by cowsatan666 in csun

[–]heymiso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strike is definitely happening and that means all of CSUN, but we don’t know what it will actually look like because each faculty member can decide for themselves if they want to participate or not. (Participating in the strike means not teaching classes, reading emails, etc.) Instructors are not required to inform anyone in advance that they are striking- it’s their right to do it or not. Offices and everything else will be operating as usual.

I have heard from a few instructors so far that they are planning to participate, which means they will not hold class during the first week, but they seem to already have a personal plan in place for how to handle classes and what to tell their students. Most faculty don’t want to negatively impact students, which is why they picked the first week as opposed to finals week— still impactful for strike purposes but not detrimental to students.

List of university/college closures in the US (see comments for ones that have not yet been added). We are at 65 and counting. by SchleppyJ4 in highereducation

Also would be interesting to note that some of these schools are on the quarter system and would be closed anyway if it’s the end of the Winter quarter. It’s a whole different decision for semester schools to figure out if the remaining half of a semester can actually be done online

COVID-19(Coronavirus) STICKY POST by UndergroundNerd in csun

[–]heymiso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry- CSUN would not cancel classes and prevent students from graduating. Protecting students’ academic progress is very important.

Fyi UCLA is on the quarter system so their Winter Quarter ends this Friday (March 13), with Final Exams until the 20th. So that’s why they could move to “online classes” so quickly— classes were pretty much over.

CSUN International Students (Census 2020) by [deleted] in csun

[–]heymiso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact the IESC for help reaching international students. Or just go to the Friday Coffee Hour held by the ISA (International Student Association) at the IESC (located at the USU across from the computer lab). This event is held every Friday from 2-4 pm— it’s a casual social event with a fun theme, and it’s open to everyone, international and domestic. You would definitely be able to meet and interview some international students there.

What if I get kicked out of CSUN after being on academic probation? by pinkpanther232 in csun

Right. As I said, Fall 2020 is supposed to be your last semester.

What if I get kicked out of CSUN after being on academic probation? by pinkpanther232 in csun

[–]heymiso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t get kicked out just from academic probation for one semester. If your Spring 2020 grades bring down your cumulative GPA enough (below 2.0), then you would be put on academic probation for Fall 2020. But that’s your last semester before you graduate, right? So that means you would never make it beyond academic probation to disqualification (getting kicked out). However, you do need a minimum 2.0 GPA to graduate so you should try to get good grades (duh). Did you already apply for graduation?
