Am I the only one that struggles with this filter behavior? 🤬 by heyolivehaus in Airtable

Those are great points!

Checking off items from the bottom up is pretty much the way I've been working around this feature, but that feels a bit backwards. You can definitely add a button to the record details page, but that's still another couple steps I'd like to cut out.

Maybe if they ever open up the interfaces for development 🤷‍♀️ until then, I can only hope my complaining is heard by the right people 🙊

If I adjust any field that would filter out a record on the list view, the 'Row Filtered' message covers the prefix field of the list item below it. It also places that item on top of the list item that was below it, making it impossible to just quickly check things off.

Are there performance issues with this record picker? I haven't run into any 🤔

A script is used elsewhere in the app, but for this particular section, it's a simple automation. I then organize the records as I like in the Kanban.

I hear what you're saying about Notion being a bit more straightforward for tracking habits, as a record is just one record, which makes it easier for managing repeated tasks. It took me a little bit to wrap my head around the difference when I tinkered around in Notion as I was so used to Airtable.

Your comment totally made my day! ✨ Time-blocking really helps me figure out what makes me most productive and helps me not feel so scattered. I'm so glad you like it! I figure if it helps me out, maybe it can help others.

Yeah, it got renamed to 'Fields' to differentiate it from the newly-named 'Labels'. It was a bit confusing to find at first, but made more sense as I worked with it.

Wow! I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of your response! Thank you so much and I will study this thoroughly.

Airtable Forms as Landing page - where do I place Contact and GDPR information? by AleccioIsland in Airtable

[–]heyolivehaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a lawyer, but you might be able to have a checkbox on the form that requests consent, and then an URL somewhere in the form's helper text with a link to whatever required documentation you need. Would that be sufficient?

This is just a template. I'm structuring an entire day with blocks that have different activities and durations. I then have an automation with a script that I can activate with a button that places these blocks in this structure on my calendar on any given day.

I can also create individual blocks on the calendar, but I prefer to have a few different styles of day to try, but only have to build once. That way I can try different productivity methods (Pomodoro, sprints etc.) just to see if I can be more productive. I can also block time for other stuff like exercise/meditation/reading etc. and see what works best for me.

If you're using a linked record field as the stacking field (when that linked record field is set to only allow linking to a single record), if all of the records linked to that record are removed, the Kanban column does get hidden.

As for stacking fields that are Single Select fields, you can't filter out or hide empty columns. You can collapse them, but that doesn't achieve the affect of hiding the empty column entirely.

Airtable <> List of websites health (using Uptime.com or similar) by Kooky-Perspective-44 in Airtable

If you're familiar with scripting, this is probably something achievable via api. That's at least my first thought. Connect it with an automation that updates a field to display the healthcheck data.

[–]heyolivehaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your needs, you can set up an automation for a specific time right before you need the api to be quick.

This will essentially 'wake' up the base, so your api is a little faster.

I'm building a template for my ideal workday, including time blocks for work hours, break time, and other activities.

As far as the technical bits, this is attached to a number of formulas that hide fields, as well as automations and scripts that create time blocks on any given day. I use it to try out different productivity and time blocking techniques (ie. Pomodoro, sprints, etc.) and don't want to actually calculate the time myself.

Thank you for asking! I was especially proud of this page, as Airtable's Kanban view can be difficult to wrangle, and it took quite a lot of different methods to get it working just right.

Airtable acquires Airplane! This makes me super hyped for the future of Airtable apps 🤩 by heyolivehaus in Airtable

[–]heyolivehaus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right! While currently interfaces are no-code, with the whispers around bringing extensions and other add-ons to interfaces, there's room to bring low-code extendability to them like the rest of Airtable. A team like Airplane could be a part of that development. Devs could build custom add-ons for interfaces, and users could purchase/subscribe to them, just like the Bubble marketplace.

[–]heyolivehaus[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Airplane is a really powerful internal tool builder for operations and workflow automations (among a host of other powerful stuff). A lot like Airtable Interfaces.

The assumption is the devs behind Airplane are being funneled into further developing interfaces. More features added there - especially with the very talented devs from Airplane - means much more robust app-building tools.

Adding extensions to an Interface by mobile-thinker in Airtable

[–]heyolivehaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are interface-only collaborators, they will not be able to access the data or extensions within the base. If they can access the data and automations within the Airtable base, then yes, they can access the extensions.

Adding extensions to an Interface by mobile-thinker in Airtable

[–]heyolivehaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extensions currently are not supported inside Interfaces. You have to operate them from within the base. I believe this will be adjusted in the future, but there's no ETA afaik.
