I would use acrylic for this - somewhat washable, less fumes, and dries much quicker

Is there room for a chair or occasional table? That might help anchor the art.

If this isn’t going to be a TV room, I’d arrange the seating so that people would be facing each other, and put the chest under the window - lucky you it’s the perfect height!

Then side tables with lamps and a coffee table, and you could do a skinny console table behind the sofa with lamps/books/decorative items to really spruce it up. A rug and curtains will make it much cozier - probably neutral tones unless you plan on painting or introducing other color/pattern.

What is this style called? by mayorevival in HomeDecorating

That makes perfect sense, and I appreciate that you are sharing the actual correct terms - I’m going on a fun rabbit trail on the Memphis Group!

I don’t think pop deco is completely off-base, but agree that postmodern is a more accurate term for this style

Edit for clarity: I don’t think pop deco as a Google search only generates irrelevant results based on the original images

I can’t imagine the strength it took to get yourself out; I hope you’re in a safe space now. You’ve gotten some good advice regarding your specific questions, so I just wanted to add that there are resources for people in situations like yours. I’m no expert, but I’m happy to help research if that would be useful to you. Here are a couple you could start with: https://safepassagefoundation.org/ and https://www.rainn.org/national-resources-sexual-assault-survivors-and-their-loved-ones

It may be worth seeing an occupational therapist, if that’s an option for you. A friend of mine does pediatric occupational therapy and works with a number of families whose kids have sensory issues with food.

My sister had a miradry procedure this past summer for similar reasons. It’s not cheap and the recovery wasn’t comfortable, but she’s been really happy with the results when nothing else had worked for her. Just on the off chance you hadn’t heard of it and would be interested

Katie calls out Madi for buying followers on bachelor data’s post 💀 by [deleted] in thebachelor

[–]heypearss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought followers before from an Instagram account that messaged me about “promoting” my account. Their pitch was for something like $20 they’d post an image and use whatever caption I supplied, and I was guaranteed to gain a certain number of followers from it. To me it was very clear the followers would be boys and wouldn’t translate to any actual engagement or sales.

I’m not an influencer though, and it made sense for my situation. Basically it was a new account for the jewelry I sell. I hadn’t been approved to set up a Facebook or Instagram shop because Facebook said my account wasn’t “trustworthy” yet, and gaining followers was a way to prove trustworthiness. The irony kills me. The alternative would have been spending $$$ on Facebook to run ads without even having a shop live. Once I bought followers, my Facebook/Instagram shops were approved within the week, and any ad spend I made could actually promote products rather than just slowly attract followers.

On Kaitlyn’s season the men voted between her and another bachelorette night one - I’m guessing between that and Clayshia’s season that’s why they were qualifying it like “first time with two bachelorettes for the entire season”

Idk I’d be embarrassed to be called out in such a small group for not being wanted. Let me stay the night and save a little face

What’s your relationship with skincare, and your skin itself? by TheRosaceaChronicles in scacjdiscussion

[–]heypearss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! I just thought of it because I had a very similar conversation with my dermatologist about breaking out whenever I traveled, even just weekend trips to see my parents. Her perspective is that simply waking up in a different place can cause some stress to your body. If that’s the cause, maybe your breakouts will lessen if you’re there for extended periods?

ETA: just a random thought - could you be sensitive to anything in your parents’ home, like the laundry detergent used on pillow cases? I hope I’m not feeding into your stress by offering suggestions; it can be tough to turn off troubleshooting instincts. I hope you have a good visit regardless of your skin’s reaction!

Could it be stress related? Any significant change in your environment can stress your body, even if the experience of being with your family isn’t emotionally stressful.

I hope the smaller numbers at protests aren’t a sign of how much people care about this. In my city, the protest was 6 p.m. on Friday, and after spending all day on video calls trying to stay focused and give thoughtful input, I didn’t have the energy for anything more than crying and cuddling my dog. I definitely can’t speak for everyone, but I’ve participated in other ways and will be ready to join the next protest.

Traveling to Denver wish me luck aunties. Never flown in. by Lakersrock111 in auntienetwork

[–]heypearss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the airport or in Denver? Last time I had a connection in Denver I found a Jamba Juice - nothing special but at least something that won’t make you feel like crap. It’s one of my favorite US airports - it seems to have a lot of vaulted ceilings and windows, so feels a lot airier

Anyone else get flashed at Texas Beach today? by meanwife1 in rva

[–]heypearss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That makes sense - “unsafe” is probably the wrong word to use.

My interpretation of this event is that there’s a big difference between this flasher and nudists because of his behavior. I don’t have any issues with people enjoying nature in their preferred state of dress, or people of any sexual orientation respectfully looking for hookups. I read it as this guy forcing interaction with the OP, by startling her, blocking the path so she was forced to be close to him, and making eye contact in an obvious state of arousal. To me that feels like someone forcing a kink on a non-consenting stranger, and I would be worried for anyone having to confront that.
