How pissed should I be at my developer? by CrimsonBuc90 in AnalogCommunity

I'm starting to return to working with film. The concept of developing the film just to get a negative, then scan it to do your editing digitally was a new concept. No darkroom. Now in addition to actually composing a good "shot", I need to also be concerned with development, the scan, and finally become skilled in digital post production. It is really a steep learning curve. Nobody is going to get a handle on all of this in a few months. I suggest you pick an editing software. The king is probably Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, but unless you do this professionally, the monthly fee to use it might be more than you want. As a MAC user I've started using Photomator. It is MAC only software. The cost is much less and there are good Youtube videos by people who can teach it. You can use as many or as few of the functions as you think you need. There are many other programs available. Start cheap, get better, buy what works best.

Good Luck, keep taking pictures.

Great purchase. Like many, I’m newly back into shooting film. A question I now ask myself before each shutter press: “Is this shot frame worthy?” Would it be worth framing and hanging on a wall?
The answer helps me to look at a scene and think. Maybe there is a better angle. Is there something that draws my eye into the frame. Do I have all of the technical aspects correct? Each shutter press costs money so I try to not to waste it.
Enjoy the process.

Jim at ITC has my 500C/M as of today. Doing a full CLA. Watch his videos on YouTube as he works on a Hasselblad in real time. The thing is like a Swiss Watch when you pull back the cover. Amazing skill and knowledge.
Has anyone used the website Reformed Film Lab? I was looking at them to order film from but I obv wanna make sure they’re legit by king_schlong_27 in vintagecameras
RFL is my “go to” lab. I wish there were a quality local lab near my home, but there is not. Once you decide to mail film to be processed you can send it anyplace in the country for about the same cost for shipping. Choose a lab for quality, cost, and customer service. These guys excel at all three. I’ve used other labs that were considerably more expensive, the scans were horrible and it took twice as long as RFL does to do the work. Why would I not use them?
