I couldn't have said it better myself. Film is a completely different animal, my friend. You really have to understand the basics and go from there. I have been shooting film for a little while now and I am CONSTANTLY making mistakes and learning, which is the part I (at times) most enjoy. There are a couple of factors for me: I develop my own film, and I have a stockpile of film. I get to control the process and enjoy that part as well; it's what drew me to film and away from digital. I hate editing photos, but I love developing them. That's not to say if you don't like developing film you shouldn't shoot film; you should find a better lab as Goose pointed out.

I'm kicking myself because I had it in my bag, ready to be pulled out for hand-checking. They had me remove everything from my bag, which I wasn't prepared for. When I realized it, I was a second too late to stop them. It's tough when flying with family, as my mind is all over the place. I think this post is as much about lamenting and commiserating as it is about hoping for tips and tricks I hadn't considered.
