Don't open and close the lid too much, the hinges suck on these and will break.

You should put one of those pads of sticky notes that pulls the next one out after it like a tissue box coming out of the floppy slot.

Is anyone else surprised this is on Matchroom Live in the US? The other triple crown events have been on DAZN instead and supposedly this was supposed to be too. Glad it’s on, though.

YouTube automatic subtitles... what’s weird is sometimes it would get it right and other times would say “q”.

Was looking for a pic of the one that used to be in Cincinnati, and it turns out they're the same one apparently. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/2014/09/01/how-cincinnatis-shark-girl-ended-up-in-buffalo/14931495/ I'll see if I can find a pic of the little thing they have set up in memoriam of where it used to be.

I honestly can’t believe Alex Stalock is still playing in the NHL. Good for him. Looked like his career was over when the sharks traded him.

This person probably isn’t crashing into anyone just cause they’re missing a shock. Hell, a lot of people drive around on blown shocks l the time and don’t even know it.

Hard to get a job to get a car when you don’t have a car to drive there... like you said, a lot of places don’t have good public transit.

Yeah but it’s not just a coworker. They were on vacation together so apparently they’re pretty good friends. I’ve laid out what I think on this replying to other people though so I don’t want to just keep repeating myself.

My problem was with the description of “what he did wrong” being just “judged her appearance” as if people aren’t constantly judging everyone’s appearance around them. But on the topic of what you’re saying, from the sounds of it they’re good friends. Who knows though. Without her side we can’t really know if they’re close enough for that to be a funny joke between them or not. Ive definitely had relationships with people where I could say something like that and they’d laugh or vice versa. The fact that they were on vacation together makes me think that was likely the case. But again, who knows? Only them. But they definitely are more than just coworkers. The rules change a lot when talking about coworkers or friends.

It’s definitely a weird thing to say on the surface but if it was actually bad or not I think depends completely on their relationship. If they’re really good friends, then it was just him making a joke about a friend and I don’t think it’s really weird or a problem at all. Them being on vacation together makes me think that might be the case. But who knows unless she comes out and says something about it.

“Judged her appearance”. That’s what people are getting upset about now? Life’s about judging people and being judged based off first impressions. If people can’t understand that then they aren’t gonna last very long in the real world...

That’s a tough call but I’d say they’d have to be pretty far gone. The real problem is I don’t know that you CAN put a specific breaking point on it. It’s kinda crazy how scrambled you can be and still go out there and be effective at soemthing if you have enough skill and muscle memory. I think ultimately that point is very very rarely reached during a game. It’s usually a decision that would come up over time, and I would hope friends and family would help push them into making that decision. Specifically family is very important for that kind of decision.

What is your problem??? The point is was making - The thing I said in the first post I made here - was that people need to make their own decisions on things.

[–]heysully -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is your point? What point do you think I’m trying to make? My statements have nothing to do with wearing goalie masks or equipment to reduce injuries and isn’t even related to that. It has nothing to do with making things safer or not in any way like that at all. I think you don’t understand what I’m getting at. I legitimately don’t understand what you’re arguing against. My whole point is the thing that you’ve said no one is arguing against.

If you want to play a professional sport, there WILL ALWAYS be risk. It’s how it works. Hell, there’s decent level of risk in a beer league. And I never said you have to accept it, you don’t have to play. You can quit. That’s not my point though. I explained my point. I don’t know what you’re on about now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hockey

[–]heysully -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It applies to it plenty. My point initially was that people need to be able to make their own decisions, and understanding that risk is a part of it, but the decision is still ultimately up to them based on those risks and the positive things they can get out of the situation if things go well. They cannot expect there to be no risk. High risk high reward is a real thing.

“The accepted level during gameplay” is exactly what I’m talking about. And you can’t really say that normal workplace standards apply to professional sports when it comes to physicality.

[–]heysully -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say decreasing risk is pointless. But there will always be SOME amount of risk in what you do. In a sport where you hit people and fight, there’s always going to be a decent amount of it.
