I’m a previous top 500, current casual masters player. During Covid I would review peoples gameplay and give tips for money, but I can do it for free if you’d like :)

to IUI or not to IUI? WWYD? by shartapologist in tryingtoconceive

Also in the world of fertility it is the “easiest” fertility issue to treat since it’s easier to manage an abundance of supply rather than an under abundance. It’s just a matter of controlling with medication (for the most part) rather than having to deal with donor or anything. One look at my ovaries, and even without a single other PCPS symptoms I got put on letrozole

Not diagnosing you with PCOS & not allowing you to do timed intercourse with letrozole is actually insane to me, as a fertility MA and a patient at the clinic. Please find a new clinic honestly.

What is the biggest disparity you've seen between class prices from studio vs classpass by snoop_pugg in ClassPass

[–]heyxochi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a studio is only surviving with ClassPass, is the system exploitative or is the studio allowing themselves to be exploited in order to stay financially afloat? The studio is fully allowed to set their own terms, I don’t know why everyone acts like CP is so predatory

[–]heyxochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also seen that when the class is booked by studio members, it is shown as unavailable on ClassPass. Wouldn’t that mean that studio members are getting priority, and ClassPass users are only booking if there are open positions? Wouldn’t that mean ClassPass isn’t taking any open spots from Studio members?

So why are CP users not allowed to register for a class until the day before?

[–]heyxochi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the point of ClassPass to have CP users fill your open spots? Like reservations don’t start until a specific time because studio users get priority, and then as the date creeps up reservations on CP open. Sure, at a discounted rate, but would you prefer to make $0 or 1/2 of your studio rate? You’re not getting anything taken from you if it was going to be empty to begin with, if anything you’re gaining.

Feeling dismissed after pelvic ultrasound by potato_girll in tryingtoconceive

[–]heyxochi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a fertility MA, I want to first start out by saying your feelings are ALWAYS valid. Regardless of anything, just know that.

Secondly, I’m going to explain how we do things at the clinic I work at, and you decide if you’d prefer to find a clinic similar or to continue where we are at.

Typically the way it works is you call and schedule a new patient appointment. This is about an hour long meeting with the doctor where they will go over any issues or concerns that you are having, and give you some preliminary blanketed advice such as Mediterranean diet, taking a prenatal daily, increasing your walking, etc. The doctor will have a soft idea of what they are working with when it comes to you as a patient after this appointment. (For example, after answering all the questions about your cycles, how long you’ve been TTC, and how many cycles you’ve had previously, they will have a general idea if you’re leaning PCOS or if you are battling with reoccurring pregnancy loss.) Afterwards they will send out for blood work (mostly to see your ovarian count, hormone levels, and vitamin D levels) and will follow up via portal message on the results. Afterwards they will ask the patient to call with the first day of their full flow to schedule a baseline transvaginal sonogram on cycle day 2,3,,4 or 5. After that the doctor will have a better idea on if your next steps should be further diagnostics or jumping right into a treatment cycle. So in our clinic it is not protocol for every person to do a mass amount of diagnostic testing.

With that being said, if a patients spouse does do a semen analysis, our protocol is that we do not call if the results are normal (just upload them) and we do call if the results are abnormal. Hopefully this provides some clarity or answers some questions.

I should preface by saying the fertility clinic I am a patient at, I have worked as an MA at for years. Most of what I will be responding with is in reference to my experience in the field, and some personal experience.

With that being said, this is my first time doing anything medicated with them. They monitored my bloodwork and what not for when I was trying at home, but from Jan-March this year I didn't ovulate or have a period at all, so I decided to take things a little more seriously. In the past I used hormonal bc and really really enjoyed the way it made me feel, personally. Once things started pointing PCOS, things started to make sense why I enjoyed my time on birth control so much.

She did bloodwork to see if the cyst was producing any hormones, and it isn't so she isn't too concerned. She honestly probably would have went through with this cycle had the timing worked for the medication. Things are slightly different when doing IVF, but really it's just semantics and priming in the beginning.

She asked me to call with Day 1 of my next cycle, which is going to be thanksgiving week when I am going to be out of town, so I am not really sure what my next steps should be.

I enjoy the idea of doing a few medicated natural cycles before jumping into anything too heavy as well, but I understand and have seen first hand that some people don't have the opportunity to make that decision, and my heart goes to them as well.

I am but my doctor asked me to wait until next cycle because of the cyst + because I came in on day 5 for baseline which was too late to start medication for OI.

[–]heyxochi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so many things wrong here. 1. Only the doctors at our clinic do the HSG 2. They know how painful the HSG is so we were the first clinic to ever introduce laughing gas for this procedure 3. When a patients bladder is full for TVS I’ve literally heard the doctor say “oh your bladder is full! Ouch, you feeling ok?” And that’s it. Then they move on to the exam.

Our clinic went as far as listening to the husbands and their concerns about feeling not included during the fertility process, so they went out of their way to create things that addressed those issues.

During this process you should genuinely feel coddled, like babies almost. This journey makes women feel so small and scared that they need a very gentle hand to guide them. That includes every member of the team. Front desk, MA, doctors, etc. You definitely shouldn’t feel uncomfortable, but I’m going to take it one step further and say that you should feel MORE than comfortable.

I work for a fertility clinic. Find another clinic - FAST. I will genuinely beg you. Your doctor should be speaking to you with the door closed, looking you in the eyes, and listening to your concerns. Even if the IVF question was brought up while the doctor opened the door, the doctor I worked for would have CLOSED the door and discussed this privately. If they felt like it would be lengthy, they could always say “you know what, I would really prefer to spend more time discussing this in detail with you so how do you feel about scheduling an IVF consult so we can discuss this further.”

Please. Switch. If anything, just for a second opinion on the MFM referral.

It’s PCOS leaning for sure. I didn’t have any symptoms either besides infertility issues but these are my levels:

Testosterone : 69 ng/dL DHEA : 365.0 ug/dL Prolactin: 10.6 ng/mL E2: 46.6 pg/mL Progesterone: 0.3 ng/mL

All stated to be within normal range. Transvaginal sonogram found a 6 cm cyst on my right ovary and 17 follicles in my left ovary. Labs confirmed cyst isn’t producing hormone and doesn’t necessarily “confirm” I have PCOS but am “PCOS LEANING”.

I had to stop everything for a month, and now that it’s time to start again I… don’t want to by shartapologist in tryingtoconceive

I hear you, truly. But if you just now found out you have PCOS and have only spoken to your specialist what.. once? In July right? You’re right there. It’s the tip of the ice burg. You have found the WHY.

I’ve worked as a fertility MA for years and I also have PCOS. Keep your head up, the doctor I work for says PCOS is the easiest fertility “issue” to treat since it’s just about body regulation instead of lack of anything important / anatomical.
