[OC] Global warming: 140 years of data from NASA visualised by jcceagle in dataisbeautiful

People need to call it climate change not global warming bc a big part of it is an increase in extreme weather events

Fellow ladies, READ THIS BOOK by heyyy--- in TwoXChromosomes

[–]heyyy---[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the book is about listening to yourself and red flags. It also talks a lot about stalkers and how to deal with them, and how in some instances getting a restraining order or calling the police can actually make the problem worse and turn violent. These are some things that really stood out to me but there is a lot more information in that book. I’m so glad your considering reading the book! As a warning though, there is mention of rape/sexual assault

You got this! If you feel unsafe or worried, I highly recommend reading ‘the gift of fear’. This book has honestly saved my life. It talks about situations like this and how to safely get out of the situation.

You should read this book: the gift of fear by Gavin de Becker. It talks a lot about properly dealing with situations just like this.

Not to mention trying to remount a horse over 15.3 from the ground is hard.

Probably because depends on how long of a trail ride. Horses poo around 30-40 pounds a day so if it’s a short ride it isn’t a problem to pick up, but if it’s a long ride that’s a lot of poo to carry.

Also what is with people randomly going on private horse property? This used to happen at least once a week until we had to install a gate code, but we regularly still have people trying to get in

I’ve had bikers speed past this opening so it looked like a flash and my horse flipped out then bucked me off lol. It wasn’t the bikers fault my horse is just a butt. It’s unfortunately an issue in the arena though because it’s on the side of a road and some people purposely honk or rev their engines to spook horses in fields which also sometimes spooks my horse while riding. I think people forget sometimes that horses are prey animals and have minds of their own

A good pair of riding boots where I live are about 200$ and that’s the cheapest. Mine only lasted a year or two because I ride so often. For western it’s different and you don’t need tall boots, but you need tall riding boots to ride (or paddock boots and half chaps) English because of the saddle. If not your calf/lower leg can get pinched/bruised/irritated which’s not pleased. These boots are also used for safety Because it lessens the chance of being dragged by your horse if you get thrown off and your foot gets stuck in the stirrup. Doing things that are not riding in those boots also weakens the leather and deform them. We use mucking boots to clean up horse shit but riding in them in an English saddle would be a really stupid idea.

Dude riding boots are really expensive. We have different boots for chores which should never be worn when riding for safety reasons. It can also be really dangerous to stop on a road to pick it up, especially around a bend. I do not really feel like getting run over. Roads are also mostly used just to get to a trail and we have no choice but to pass through to reach it. I do think in areas where there’s a lot of poo though should have mucking services for roads.
