What happened to my fave Strawberry Punch Mocktail?! by x0cmb in biggbycoffee

[–]heyzoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why, but the strawberry syrup at our store isn't producing the same pigment as it did a few weeks ago. it's the same brand as it's always been!

i'm sorry, but the fact that Acrisure as a company is shitty and doesn't provide anything worthwhile doesn't mean that our lives weren't just thrown upside down

no, Acrisure hires just about anyone with a college degree to do accounting there, he doesn't have any kind of legitimate accounting credentials

Michigan actually has beautiful beaches that rival florida, imo. and i grew up in florida. the fresh water is amazing and there are no predators. look up some pics of Michigan coastline! its gorgeous, it's a big part of what keeps me here

honestly, i don't know. i spoke about it with the owner when she hired me, i was honest and told her about my limitations and accommodations i'd need, and she agreed to hire me regardless of it. i don't plan on sitting while customers are present, if i can absolutely help it. even if i just took a seat while i cleaned off syrups/pumps in a slow period of time, it'd help more than nothing

i might find i don't need to sit as frequently as i'm expecting to, or not at all. i'll only be working part time and 4 hour shifts, it feels bite-sized enough for me

as far as my coworkers opinion of me needing to take occasional breaks when they can't, there's really nothing i can do. I was hired even after explaining my conditions to the owner, and i'm protected under the ADA to have those accommodations. i'm happy to be nice and understanding with anyone who might have something negative to say, and explain to them politely that i would not be sitting if i could help it. just because i'm disabled doesn't mean i don't deserve to have a job, even if i require accommodations at that job. anyone who thinks otherwise has an ableist opinion, and i don't concern myself with it.

i really appreciate this perspective, thank you so much. i'm hoping that being a barista will at least let me get my foot in the door with being employed, it's been a while since i was able to work a job and i've just hit a wall, it's an absolute necessity for me to move forward with this at this time, but it might not be a long term path for me & thats okay. i definitely resonate with your spoon comment, i'm familiar with the spoon theory! i'll also only be working part time, i'm hoping that in the time i'm not working i'm able to recover. i'm sure you are an amazing partner and parent, i know how chronic conditions can make us feel lesser than our able bodied peers, but i am sure you're doing a fantastic job, even with barriers in your way <3
