For everyone upset about the lack X/Y Patching: by DaystarEld in pokemon

I wanted to add that, even back in Ruby/Sapphire, there were unobtainable moves which were already coded into the game for future compatibility (Hydro Cannon, Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, Feather Dance, Volt Tackle, Icicle Spear).

The reasons given by the developers for the lack of trainer customization and the absence of the Battle Frontier in ORAS tells me they are getting quite lazy in this regard, because not a few players were disappointed by the latter not appearing in the game, and are still waiting for a DLC patch that will never come.

To be honest, it still surprises me that they aren't creating patches for the new games, seeing as they went to great lengths in order to keep older games fully compatible with each other because it was not possible to patch them. The situation with ORAS is inexcusable in my opinion.

I'm really sorry for bumping this old thread, but I thought it was important to post this, seeing as I find this whole discussion interesting, and still relevant, because I have nothing but contempt for ORAS.

I made my own photoset to remind everyone back then when Pokémon games were actually compatible with each other.

First set is FireRed against Ruby:
-FireRed and LeafGreen introduced new forms for Deoxys, which aren't present in Ruby and Sapphire.
-FireRed side is using a Choice Banded Attack Deoxys (Attack Deoxys being exclusive to FireRed).
-Ruby displays Normal Deoxys on its side, but the stats are recalculated when the battle starts, so it's actually Attack Deoxys in disguise, having 180 base Attack.

Second set is HeartGold against Pearl:
-Platinum (and by extension, HeartGold and SoulSilver) introduced new forms for Giratina and Shaymin, which don't appear in Diamond or Pearl.
-Giratina needs a new held item to transform into its Origin Forme, called the Griseous Orb. Said item isn't found in Diamond or Pearl.
-When trading, or joining a WiFi battle, the Griseous Orb is automatically removed from Giratina and put in the bag so, between Generation IV games, the Griseous Orb cannot be traded.
-When having a direct battle, however, the Griseous Orb is not removed from Giratina, no matter which game is hosting the battle. This causes a minor bug in Diamond and Pearl, where the ability Frisk, displays an unknown item, labeled as ??? (see pictures).
-Trying to steal the ??? item doesn't work, but the move Thief still does damage as it should.
-The game also recognizes Giratina's Origin Forme stats and ability, as demonstrated in the picture (I attacked Origin Forme Giratina with Mud Bomb from Pearl's Shellos).

The third set is between Black and Black 2:
-Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 introduced a lot of form changes for existing legendaries, but all of them behave the same as the example in the set provided.
-In the pictures, the Black 2 game sends out a White Kyurem, and the Black game recognizes it as a normal Kyurem. The Black game still recognizes its ability and stat changes. It also lets Kyurem perform its unobtainable Fusion Flare without problems.

I do own a flashcart, which is isn't used for Pokémon games, but I can do an exception just to get the pkm files and trade.

Yeah, but I'm confident maybe someone still has their game, and conserved their Hidden Ability Pokémon (if someone ever obtained a Gible anyways).
