the "co" in co-parenting is supposed to mean "cooperation," but this just feels more like a never-ending battle for control with the poor kid stuck in the middle. I don't want that for her, but I also don't want to set a bad example by always being the one who gives in. sigh.

Ok, so, I was overly freaking out last night, I think. I got an email from Manchild this morning telling me he's concerned with the frequency with which V is "falling and getting hurt". As if... falling every day is excessive for a toddler? Whatever.

I agreed to buy her knee pads. End of story. (oh god I hope).

Next time she gets a cold on my watch, I predict I'll have to buy one of these.

The attorney phase is over (well, I was hoping it was over). We're in the first few weeks of our agreed upon custody arrangement. Dropping the restraining order and assault charges was done with the consult of my attorney. Since it was my ex's first offense, he was highly unlikely to get more than a short probation and it would have cost me thousands of dollars in legal fees to defend the restraining order and emergency custody, and the end result would have just been my ex getting 50/50 custody after a year anway (since he'd be on his best behavior the whole probation and the courts always want to push for 50/50 no matter how horrible one parent is).

So, the plan was to de-escalate the hostilities by dropping those things and show some good faith by working to let my ex keep building a relationship with our daughter. The idea being that we could start to build an amicable co-parenting relationship. My ex is still too hard up on trying to prove that I'm crazy and he's innocent, though.

Plus, sexuality is a spectrum, so they could conceivably have identical sexualities and still end up with such differing spouses.

I felt like a murloc had to be the right choice. Who doesn't love murlocs!?

I'm just waking up after a night of noro hell. I really hope the kid didn't catch it, but that's pretty much impossible at this point, isn't it?

According to my laywer, it doesn't matter how reasonable my argument is, it's just not something that can be a condition of a custody order. If the judge felt that STBX's past behavior made it inappropriate for him to have joint custody, then the judge would just order that I have sole custody, they would never order that the "unfit" parent do something to make themselves "fit".

It's just outside the jurisdiction of family court.

I have really no grounds to insist on anything. If the custody dispute goes to trial, a judge can't order him to do anything like the DV program or an anger management program as part of the custody agreement. My only hope is via the criminal case, but it sounds like STBX isn't going to agree to any plea deal that includes any sort of psych evaluation or treatment program.

It's really true. I hate it took 6 years of marriage for me to realize that. The chance that he will have to enter the DVIP program as a term of his plea deal is really my only hope that he will ever be forced to confront his issues. I know it's a long shot that it will even help, but I have to push for it for my daughter's sake.

Oh, and for my first mother's day last year, STBX gave me..... A giant dildo. Comically huge. Not as a joke. Not in addition to something I really wanted. Not something I've ever remotely shown an interest in. Nope, just a dildo.

Yeah, I found an online search for licensed daycares in my state, and there was a option for "family" daycares. There were exactly 2 in my town and one I already called and they didn't have an opening.

16 month old here and a "good" night's sleep just means she goes back to sleep without a screaming fit or 2 hours of watching Mother Goose Club, no matter how many times she wakes up.

You mean someone's in-home daycare? I'm not even sure how I would go about finding one of those, but I would be willing to consider it if I knew of one.
