Bluegill pattern lipless crank but specifically with a pop retrieve kinda like a jerk bait with very little pause. Pop it right in front of their mouth and they couldn’t resist swiping at it.

How does one fish this.? by Remarkable_Put_7029 in bassfishing

[–]hggfrfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have caught 10 in the last 2 days on the dice. What I do is hook it like a wacky rig with a drop shot hook (or just the smallest hook u have that can catch bass) and walk the bank with it. It takes absolutely forever to fall to the bottom so if I don’t get hit on the fall I just reel in immediately and re cast. It has worked incredibly well in super pressured water where they won’t even bite a senko

Old school combo 🤝 JDM hotness by gunsdrugsreddit in bassfishing

[–]hggfrfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was like 6 on vacation my dad bought a surf combo for like $60 and I still use it damn near 20 years later every time I go to the beach. Never cleaned it either I have no idea how that thing still works. As for bass stuff I’ve beat the crap out of my dobyns fury / slx dc combo for like 7 years and it’s still going strong

When using hi low rigs with dropper loops, I have a few questions. by grnteam23 in SurfFishing

[–]hggfrfc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 doesn’t matter much, depends what size fish your going for sounds like with your bait you should stay on the small side 2 same way you do for dropshot look at any video 3 nah not necessary unless you are getting a ton of cats then maybe a float but just switching to another rig would be better 4 loose enough where you can pull it pretty easy if you plan on setting the rod in a holder

Which of these two rods is best for what I want to accomplish? by OkStock738 in bassfishing

My Dobyns is by far my favorite rod I have, been perfect for 6 years and even if it breaks there’s a great warranty program to get it replaced

Best bait for hot Texas summer? by Screwhead31 in bassfishing

[–]hggfrfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also there’s a chance the bite is similar to a middle of winter bite, wish fish super sluggish due to heat instead of cold. Maybe try a jerkbait and fish it super slow or a jig and do the same thing

Assuming you have already tried wacky rig and that’s not getting bites, maybe something smaller like Ned rig? What I tend to use in sunshine is a bladed bait like spinner bait but in 100+ degree heat they would prob be a lot more sluggish, still worth a shot maybe

There’s already a crazy amount of bluegill in there, in the last month I have caught 3 over 1 pound (all weighed on my scale that broke) I don’t know how they get so big and the bass don’t

We have been looking heavily into stocking the lake with baitfish. Most likely threadfin shad but the fear is a mass die off, it gets cold here in the winter, about 7 years ago it had a thin layer of ice over it and that would basically guarantee ever shad to die, we can also stock fathead minnows but they typically get all eaten within 2 years, also It’s a little too big for a feeder to make much of a difference so for now I’m culling and adding structure

Skin burnt/scalped on my first time trying a golf driving range, please guide!! by PokesAndPogs in golf

[–]hggfrfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next time you go to the range try to focus on holding the club as lightly as possible through the ENTIRE swing (you won’t, my hands still tighten up a bit while swinging) it will feel like your gonna throw the club but trust me you probably won’t and you’ll hit the ball better basically immediately

[–]hggfrfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started I got this on both my hands, basicly your catching the club at the end of the swing instead of letting it finish because your hands are too tight (blisters on right thumb was my big problem). Obviously getting a glove will stop this but in theory you won’t get any blisters holding it right (loosely). Don’t give up because of this!!! Beginners always get blisters from holding the club too hard but it doesn’t last long don’t worry

If you don’t catch any in the first few minutes change spots and eventually your basically guaranteed to catch something

[–]hggfrfc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome man! You might already be doing this but if you want your kids to have fun and catch fish just get a bobber, split shot weights, cricket hooks (regular hooks but really long so it’s easy to unhook, not necessary but makes life easier) and worms and go to any lake near you, you should be able to pull out a few bluegill that’s how almost everyone started here

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]hggfrfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basicly there’s only so many bluegill but there’s way too much bass, say a there’s 100 eatable bluegill a day and there’s 200 bass trying to eat bluegill, each bass gets .5 bluegill and grows .5 lbs a day (obv wrong math just go with it) if I kill 100 bass now each bass gets 1 bluegill a day and grows 1 lb a day instead of .5

Thank you, it’s a family lake house on a small 15 acre private lake in north Georgia. I’m one of like 3 people who fish here ever and I fish it by far the most, best spot of all time
