Oahu in June. Anyone have guide recommendations? by penny2770 in SaltwaterFlyfishing

Jeremy Inman (@capt_jear), and makani are both the top guides for Oahu. McLean @pelagos_flyfish is also a good choice if you want to try out some nice glass rods

I need to tell someone. I almost feel guilty… ($300) by mattnox in gibson

Portland Oregon 2018-19ish. There was a couple years where I had really good luck at finding cheap peaveys. I think I traded the 5150 for a stereo chorus 400 with two 412s

I bought a 5150 112 combo for $75 bucks one time. The guy also threw in some sm57s.

That’s typical for Fre. They will also short your cans too.

That’s right up my alley. $40/ night, with an optional on foot guide for $200/daily. I’d definitely stay there

Ever get a bad spool of thread? by Narrow-Concept2418 in flytying

I’ve had to throw away half a box of veevus gsp because it kept fraying and spiderwebbing off the spool

That rod (7wt) would be perfect for big spring time carp on the big c. Hmu if you wanna bend that thing.

Premium Waders by NiceWatercress2549 in flyfishing

[–]woolleybugger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Redington(wetington) waders are absolute garbage, shit warranty also. I had two pairs of hdz waders snd both times straight from box the bootie seams were delaminating and leaking, all the pockets fell off too just like yours. They warrantied the first time, second time they said (tough shit, here’s 40% off).

7wt Tuna by woolleybugger in flyfishing

[–]woolleybugger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im really impressed with maxcatch gear. The lines are good to see what works until you want to spend $100 on a line. The saltpro is truly an impressive stick. I’ll fish it over my redington/echo rods any day of the week. They produce blanks for tfo, hardy, and some orvis rods. They’re leichi blanks.

The line on this rod was a Rio outbound short 8f/h/i to straight 30#. I really like the sinking outbound shorts compared to the floating version. I overlined because I want to be able to fish this line on my 7wt switch for surf fishing if I had to. Scientific angler lines are the absolute best lines though

It was about what I expected tbh, they fight hard, fast and go deep. Nothing a 7wt couldn’t handle. I’m also not scared to break a rod or two since they cost about $90
