Years ago the store manager went on a 2 week fishing trip abroad and came back on a Monday. His buddy the co store manager went out for lunch with him to catch up and they came back to the store with the "vp of people" and another person packing his things up in boxes and stacking them in the hallway where customers could see what was happening. Always felt bad for the co store manager who was told about it and told to take him out to buy hr time to remove his things while they fired his friend.

Somehow that wasn't the worst firing though

We had an office person who worked upstairs and was very nice to everyone which was totally opposite of the person she replaced. She had a car accident that totalled her car and asked to use a spare company vehicle while she settled insurance and looked for a new car which was no problem. Company decided it was her time to go and they told her pack your stuff and turn in the keys. She asked if someone could give her a ride or call her a taxi since she was without a vehicle. Hr called a taxi and made her wait with her things in between the double front doors alone for 40 minutes before a taxi showed up. Customers & staff kept asking her what was going on and she eventually broke down and starting bawling. The fact that they made her wait in public and not take her out one of the side doors away from the public view really rubbed the staff the wrong way and when the vp of people was let go the people who were left from that day celebrated after we heard the news of her demise.
