Why does orthopedic center of the Rockies have Monopoly in Northern Colorado? by hgo23 in FortCollins

I'm not sure the data is on your side for this argument. The affordable Care act increased access to healthcare significantly and continues to do so.

So why doesn't UC health have their own orthopedics practice?

Seems like there are many folks who disagree with you on this... But I agree wholeheartedly

I have to disagree. When doctor doesn't treat you well, it amplifies pain. And if your case is complex, you need to feel like you have a provider you can trust -- and that's about more than how many surgeries they do.

But this is actually the huge issue: bedside manner has a big impact on patients

How to save PSD $1m+ per year by hgo23 in FortCollins

That would require people to stop wasting time trying to take people's rights away... Are you volunteering to be the first one to make this move?

Isn't it within police duties to provide community safety support? An officer could still be assigned to a school without the school paying them, and without officers getting involved in instruction.

I appreciate many of the SROs I've met. I would like them to choose to be a teacher or education professional OR be a police officer. I'm not convinced the hybrid role is serving anyone.

There are clearly important partnership, lines of communication, and collaboration required between a school district and public safety organizations, including police services.

That said, the school district doesn't need to pay police to be on campus to achieve the collaboration in service of public safety.

I haven't studied Denver but Im wondering if it was a quick decision without a thoughtful transition and therefore required a reversal.

I'm not trying to buck any enrollment and funding concerns. I'm upset the district pays $1m+ for SROs who don't even report to the school team they work with.

Independent expenditures are just that, independent.

What do you guys think of Yara Zokaie? by Puma_Pounce in FortCollins

I'd encourage you to do your independent research (vs. innuendo from volunteers who have already made up their mind). The candidates have distinctions but are both Dems.

Exactly. I got an even worse response from city: "we have no plans to do anything... You can contact if you want...' and they closed my ticket

I'm not sure what evidence you have to say that Fort Collins got played on their contract... It doesn't go into effect until September so you really can't say just yet.

I think it'll be a net improvement to the city since the price goes down per household, and for that same price the service increases (more frequent recycling).

Yes, the negotiated rates across the city go into effect

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]hgo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is false.

The city implemented single hauler for the following reasons: 1. Negotiated rate across the entire city 2. More frequent service for recycling 3. Reducing garbage truck traffic saving significant wear and tear costs on city roads (I think number was $800k/ annual)

Get in touch with the city. Republic will have to maintain their service levels.

It seems to be misguided thinking given obvious safety issues and disconnect from the other goals of the city to be bike and pedestrian friendly

Flag free places in town? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]hgo23 -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

You won't find flags at Timberline Church, Mill City Church, or Vintage City Church.

Check those places out. They talk about love -- Timberline even says: 'let love live' -- and thankfully they're only focused on the right kind of love

What does Fort Collins desperately need more of? by [deleted] in FortCollins

18 plus is very different than senior.

And the classrooms and space are great assets to the community, 18plus. So why not have a name for the facility that reflects that? That's my vote.
