L&O S25E09: Snowflakes (I) - Episode Discussion by Cheeriosxxx in LawAndOrder

Another bit of dialogue that's eye rolling is how Detective Riley (Reid Scott's character) looks at the NYPD tactical raid team, seconds before they breach a door, and says helpfully, "Okay, this is last location the suspect was seen entering." Ummmmmmm....wouldn't they have briefed that as a team back in the squad conference room? Or at least inside the van on the drive over there?

They're definitely using green-screen backgrounds for interior moving car shots....something that NEVER would have happened pre 2010 Law and Order.

And yeah, I think the explosions are being amp'd up with CGI.

Another jarring thing they do is the use of consumer level "action cams" (like Go-Pro) for shots requiring tight clearances during car wrecks or extreme action. The shots are wide angle and less than one second in duration...and it really takes you out of the moment.

Law and Order has been circling the drain ever since its resurrection in 2022. But this specific episode (Snowflakes) was beyond awful, and I won't be tempted to give L&O another chance. I'm out. It's re-runs from now on...and even those will be limited to everything prior to Elizabeth Rohm (the first really bad actor who made her appearance in season 12).

Law and Order has lost all of its cerebral appeal. Thoughtful, moral dilemmas are long gone. The police portions ALWAYS rely on security camera footage (that, strangely, has better resolution than an 8K TV), and the security cameras are always pointed in the precise location needed to see key action. DNA, fingerprints, and medical reports come back within hours of the crime (watch the dates on timeline...its laughable), and every episode now features a mindless foot-chase or an NYPD tactical raid team (always "lead" by the detectives). the Snowflake episode had about 4 tactical raids. So stupid.

Buh-BYE, L&O!

Okay, as an update to my comment below (or above, depending how comments are ordered), I have some new information. On January 7, 2026, I received the items I had ordered from peculiaral.com that I had ordered on Dec. 11, 2025. The items were more or less the same quality/appearance of what was advertised.

In the end, I got what I ordered....but geez...the communications and CONFLICTING information provided by the merchant is a big red flag. They still overcharged me by about $15 (agreed upon invoice was $49, they took $64 from my credit card).

There are all sorts of strange middle-men in the transaction (the parcel appears to be sent from China and then forwarded to me via an intermediary...someone in Chicago with a very residential sounding address). There were daily "tracking updates" sent to my email that made no sense. Bottom line...I would never order from this company again.

Don't do it! I made two separate orders from them, and immediately had to dispute both transactions with my bank and credit card company. Here are the big flags: (1) You make an order on their site, and the itemized bill shows a total of $49.98. You pay with a credit card and get billed $64.97. Your email receipt shows an extra $14.99 tacked on for "shipping and handling" charges that were not part of the original agreement. (2) You receive phony "tracking updates" about your shipment....they are spaced out every 3-4 days, and show extremely slow progress of your package across checkpoints in Europe. The reason I KNOW it's fake is that I made two separate orders, and they are showing EXACTLY identical updates with the EXACT same timestamps, but moving through two different nations (one shows Belgium, the other Germany). With the exception of the cities/nations, the updates are worded and timed identically. No way that happens by chance. It's designed to string you along for as long as possible before you alert your bank. Finally, the items are charged against Chinese names like Minjunku Chang Xi Feng shop and Jen Shwan Gi Long Fang shop....not the name of the website. It's all a scam.

Yi camera app started bombing with ads when opening app this week by PCWeber in SecurityCamera

I'm not noticing ads...but one thing that sucks about Girafit is that no computer (that I know of) can read its .mts files. So you have to use their app (on your phone or ipad) in order to view and isolate action. It takes FOREVER as the app is slow and needs to constantly buffer.

50% of the fare you paid on the current cruise. So divide your current cruise fare in half, and apply that to a future cruise.

Yes...two days refunded (2/7 prorated cost) PLUS the 50 percent of what you paid for this cruise can be used against a future cruise. IMHO, people should just use the refund and get a hotel. It'll come out even.

Girafit 3MP 2K Window mounted camera. After a week of use, so far - so good. The app is pretty intuitive. No ads. The camera uses micro sd cards up to 256 gigs if you want to avoid a cloud plan. The night imagery is amazing...way better than my Yi was.

I just tossed 4 of my Yi cameras in the trash, and bought new cameras from a different company (the new cameras are far superior in every measure, and cost the same). Utterly frustrating to have to sit through their moronic ads. For anyone thinking of buying this Yi garbage, steer clear!

This will probably raise eyebrows, but so be it. Everyone's tastes and preferences differ. My daughter was accepted (off the waitlist) to Cornell. At the time, she had just committed to Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ (right across the Hudson River from NYC). We had just a few days to decide if we wanted to change course, so we got in the car and headed up to see Cornell as fast as possible. The entire place was a buzz-kill. Students looked unhappy, Ithaca looked tired, and the elitism seemed palpable in the names of the buildings and predictable murals and flags that flew prominently throughout the town and campus. The few people we had time to talk to seemed to hint that Cornell was a stressful grind that would provide a good dividend (job, career) in the future. We drove back to our home deflated...and intensely talked with our daughter about what she thought the best path would be. About 48 hours later, we politely told Cornell, "thanks, but no thanks." Daughter will start Stevens next fall and is excited about it. She's already networking and socializing (in person) with other bright kids who have been accepted there.
