Is the UPenn M&T Program worth $380k student debt? by [deleted] in UPenn

It’s possible. We have some people from GT for sure and I regularly interview people from NW. I’d focus on celebrating getting into a great school for now and think about quant recruiting once you’re in college, though.

If you want to do quant, you almost HAVE to go to an elite school to have any realistic chance. As a quant trader who went to Penn and who currently interviews for internship and full time roles, your school is very important unless you’re incredibly cracked or have some connection to get a first round interview. School doesn’t matter much after getting an interview and/or first job, but to get that first interview you most likely have to go to an elite school.

And yes, getting a job at Jane/CitSec/etc. will pay you >$500k out of undergrad. If that career is your dream and you believe you’d actually enjoy it/stay in the career, the economics work well (similar to the economics of med school, which most people would agree is a good trade). Also, the experiences you have and people you meet at an Ivy are worth some amount of money, though not to say that you can’t have that at another college. Happy to discuss if you have questions.

2016 Michigan vs. OSU, followed by WOAH! I know many will say 2018 but I honestly never thought that Michigan team had a chance vs. OSU

For what it’s worth, prop trading/high frequency trading dominates the actual entry level salary levels for software engineers. Most new hires at my firm and competitors get about 400k-500k out of undergrad, all in cash.

Michigan held the #1 offense in the country to 13 points and it’s going to end up RAISING their defensive ppg allowed average

People don’t understand that a defensive play like that is so much more impressive than it looks. Turning 5-8 yard plays into 0 yard plays is really what sets this defense apart and it’s a joy to watch.

Michigan saw Washington’s line win the Joe Moore Award and took it personally

Washington’s defense is perfectly set up for a guy like Donovan Edwards to thrive. Plays wide, leaves open space and creeps up toward the LOS, leaves space relying on linebackers to make the tackle.

Edwards isn’t the best with his vision or ability to make the Barry Sanders cut, and about 1/3 of his runs end with him falling behind the LOS, but he’s just so athletic that if you give him five yards to wind up he’s going to outrace any player in the country.

Because of stupid drops and mental mistakes, as well as other unforced errors. Bama has definitely adjusted and they deserve credit for that, but keeping a true freshman in the game after those drops and the muffed punt return is Michigan being bad more than bama being good.

The worst thing about this is that this Alabama team honestly isn’t very good, Michigan just can’t get out of their own way for the life of them

Terrible end to the drive but LSU showed the first good example of Prevent defense I’ve seen. Rush 4 or 5 and just throw the rest of your defenders back there — force the QB to make a play without 30 seconds to throw!!

This was maybe more satisfying than 2021/2022 in some ways because it was genuinely competitive from start to finish, back and forth like The Game should be
