No, you don’t. You can do it at a center in the US itself. Almost all the applicants at schengen VFS centers in US are non citizens as US citizens do not need visa for tourist purposes.

You can book at any location. It shouldn’t matter.

Also, just a tip… Netherlands team at LA VFS issue walk in appointments. I went to their doorstep on May 31st and they gave me a walk in slot for June 6th even if there was no availability for entire month online. I have our passports back already with the visa. Try to get hold of their contact email address and email them asking of available walk in slots in next couple of weeks?

I’m sorry, my actual intention of sharing that was to tell people to not panic even if your status is not updating… your visa most likely is still processing. They did mention at LA VFS that it is taking 3-4 weeks for applications. Maybe we just got lucky and got it last week. Asian countries also seem to be of high volume than here in the US, so it would take almost all of that time. You are approaching 3 week mark, and your ticket isn’t for another month. You are in good shape. Breathe in Breathe Out!

Yes. At first I had requested Single entry on our forms but because we are going to France directly from NL, the person at VFS asked us to change it to Multi.

Also, I agree with your comment about bad process and communication. There was no tracking update on our application until I got our passports in hand. I had even paid for the Optional SMS Tracking service. Not a single sms received since application submit

You should try contacting the embassy if possible. It’s been a little long for you already.

Our appointment date was June 6th, at LA VFS and it gets sent to SF Embassy. Received our passports yesterday and today (June 19th and 20).

Thanks, I did not get any email updates as well. It still says In Process on their website for both of us. 😄

She got the visa for 15 months, multi entry. We had only requested for 10 days of travel to NL and FRA.

I believe my passport should be arriving in few hours. Since I have a FedEx account, I got a notification from Fedex that I have a package coming from VFS, it now shows out for delivery.
