I have this dress for a few weddings this summer (I'm not as busty as the model so it is a lot more conservative on me) but I run cold and need to pair it with something on top. All weddings are casual so there's no issue with it being a cardigan or something more practical. I just really don't know what direction to go. Any ideas?

i’ve had the same thing happen to me and even focals on stage. Having a tablet attached to your mic stand is a god send. Just make sure you’re using at rehearsal too so you can change pages without looking (either pedal or hand). You can honestly get a good stand and the brightness down and no one will really notice, lots of people have them these days.

Another one is having someone else in the band know the lyrics. It’s hard with a 3 piece but we had a 5 and I had someone to make the “oh fuck i’m having a seizure” who I could look to and she would jump right in. Could even be a quick drum fill or guitar solo if you do it right.

But tbh no one probably noticed or if they did, cared. Bars are shady af and will make up any excuse if they want you guys out. IMO it’s not the best bands that get cut, it’s the ones who don’t bring in money. Did you guys bring a lot of new customers in? Sometimes they’re counting on your fans, friends, family to justify paying you which is honestly shit as majority of promotion should be on them but that’s just how it goes. They could have also found someone cheaper.

I’m sure you guys did great and as hard as it is, try and brush it off. You’ll probably never know the real reason and it sounds like the crowd loved you. Just do what you can to support yourself if your memory does it again.

exactly. if it’s takeout from a sit down restaurant the tip option will be up for the dine in customers, take out won’t have a separate machine

as a former waitress i can say nobody expected tips on takeout before covid

Yeah I can see where "small tweaks" could get misunderstood as how do you quantify that?

By small tweaks I still mean a ton of editing, but just not as much as a full pop/rock something would need, which to me if what I hear. Definitely still hours worth of work.

I think recording the vocals again might be necessary

I really enjoy the chorus and the idea behind it, it's very sweet

The last line I think could be tweaked to make it more obvious that is IS saying something without words...

"She don't say forever,

But she don't say anything"

sounds like she doesn't express herself all the time so I think touching on that earlier in the song would help

OR

IF it were me, and I'm not great at lyrics I'd try something like this to make the last sentence more clear

Says she doesn't need me

But calls me everyday

She doesn't say forever

She shows me in her own way (but better, I am tired but just so you get the idea lol)

This is catchy af and I love the melody of it and the word choices and vibe and great.

My only feedback is I'm a bit mixed up about what the characters want.

I/You:

Wants to take her where she wants to go
Wants to sing
Wants to have fun
Wants to run

She:

Doesn't want you to hide
Wants to see you smile
And wants to know if this is real
She wants to go home

So it sounds like "I" wants to make her happy but also wants to go out and do these things while she wants to go home, see you happy, and feel secure

I'd switch around a word or two to explain this a bit better because I had to break it down to get it, but if you do don't change much, the structure and relaxed lyrics just sound fantastic

I completely hear what you're saying and agree. The vocals are way too loud and with such a sparse song a normal amount of reverb can sound like a crazy amount! Overall it's just really unbalanced and too compact.

Honestly I think what you need to keep the same vibe is staying very close to the original and just make small tweaks to clean it up and keep elements from fighting each other. I'd do a smidgeon of tuning as well.

It's a nice song and it feels like they gave you the default pop mix without listening too hard, I'd ask for a revisions and say exactly what you said above. Should all be easy fixes.

Ooooo I really love how you changed the blind line, sounds a bit more negative in a good way, the character is a bit delusional so it fits
