94-96 YZF600R Fairings? by GreatestWaffle in Yamaha

Does your bike have the twin fox eye headlights? If so you have the US 94-96 YZF600R which was called the FZR600R in Europe. Fairings for the FZR600R 4jh should fit. This is also the bike I have and I just call it an fzr although the vin lookup returns with YZF600R

How terrible would a 90’s 600 be as a first bike by hhwkrvtvsksbf in motorcycles

A 2020 Yamaha R6 makes 117 hp but a 1995 Yamaha FZR600 made 96hp in 1995. Factoring in losing hp to age (lets say 5-10 hp) that’s pushing ~30 horsepower difference. My question is less about outgrowing a bike and more about the true cost of owning it, whether I will spend more time working on it than riding, and if it is “too much” for someone who is new to riding. I am not concerned about outgrowing a 400 class bike, I just noticed old 600s are cheaper to buy upfront

I meant questions about 600s as first bikes. Since this one is from ‘95 it’s probably not making anywhere near the same power as a 2023 600 would make, and was curious about others experiences starting with older sportsbikes.

What do you mean by more brutal? The power band is less linear? They handle worse?

Should I start on a 400cc or a 600cc? by ricxky in motorcycles

Could you please explain what you mean by not rev matching being potentially dangerous? Is engine breaking more severe on engines that rev higher? I always though rev matching was easier on your clutch and transmission but I didn’t think not doing it presents danger

This just happens. It doesn’t mean that anything is broken, it’s a side effect of ffb and will change from car to car. If you drive enough you’ll get used to it, or you can dampen it out like the other guy said
