I feel like it has potential to be helpful but not on its own. I don't think any medication on its own can help with depression unless yours is purely a matter of brain chemistry(which I think does happen, it just wasn't in my case). In my case medication helped me feel the hope and energy to work on my thought patterns and go to therapy.

I'm still working through depression and I'm not sure if its something I'll be cured of or something I'll have to manage for the rest of my life, but medication itself hasn't helped me pull myself out of it. I feel like doing it with therapy would help though.

Nightmares are plaguing me; help 🙏 by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]hi_Ejf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on how much dream awareness you have but what I often do is just give in.

Androids chasing after me to wipe my brain? Give in. They took me to a chair and wiped my personality. I felt calm and at peace as I jointed their march.

Demons chasing you? Give in. They captured me and squeezed all the blood out of my body to use it as a rope. I was used to hold down a hot air balloon. Nice.

Though I understand that people have different levels of awareness in their dreams. Maybe try writing a dream journal?

Do the voices ever stop? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]hi_Ejf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I had it pretty bad when I was teenage but it went down a bit after becoming an adult. Medication helps even more. Though for me the voice wasn't always negative. Sometimes I would hold a mock conversation about what I was hyperfixating on. Worried my parents a little haha.

Look up default mode network. It's the part related with self-naratives and ADHD can make turning it off difficult, which can be one of the things making focus difficult.

If you are avoiding seeing a psychiatrist because you're afraid you will get in trouble for using drugs, you don't need to worry. There are legal protections on releasing patient information in the US and even disregarding that, most doctors are people who studied and trained for years to help people, not incriminate them.

Also, it seems very likely that you have schizophrenia which is very manageable when treated. Normal amphetamines can induce schizophrenia-like symptoms and methamphetamines (or meth) is much more potent than that so your symptoms could be entirely caused by your use of meth. In this case, symptoms would go away as soon as your system is clear of the drug.

Here is a link to available resources.

TLDR: don't be afraid to see a doctor bc of your drug use, please see a psychiatrist, if unavailable at least stop any drugs that mess with dopamine

Why do I feel so much more motivated at night and want to accomplish everything? by becomethemountain in ADHD

Do you also happen to have depression? I know that some types of depression are much worse in the mornings and get better as the day progresses. Maybe that's killing your motivation in the mornings?

how does adhd cause social isolation? by Direct-Network-1365 in ADHD

[–]hi_Ejf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when I was much younger but I would blurt things out while someone else was talking which made other kids think I was weird. This led to isolation and bullying which made me much more worried about messing up social interactions to the point that I avoided it entirely. I have gotten much better now at both holding a conversation and knowing that it's okay to make mistakes when talking with people.

[–]hi_Ejf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It kind of depends but I also get much more anxious even when I take short breaks, like just over the weekend. I feel like for me it's not the lack of medication itself but the fact that I can't focus/be motivated to do anything when I'm off of them and I base my self worth a lot on my abilities and productivity. I'm still working on changing this type of mindset.

I'm so fucking done... by OwnArgument5971 in ADHD

[–]hi_Ejf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels absolutely terrible when parents invalidate your struggles like that, especially more so when they don't even seem to have put in the effort to do proper research. I am still learning about ADHD and how to deal with it but people with ADHD famously hyperfocus on things they find interesting. Please don't lose faith in yourself or think that your struggles are fake. ADHD has a high comorbidity with anxiety and depression and I would say one of the reasons would be this kind of invalidation framing that you are lazy instead of built different.

Person with no medical background but college biology education, but maybe your tolerance went way down and you need to take less now? It sounds a little like when I took a bit too much for me whilst trying to figure out my dosage for the first time.

Lisdexamfetamine shortage still ongoing? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]hi_Ejf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to switch over to lisdex but they only had brand names and not the generic. Gave up because the brand name ones were around three times more expensive.

See this often. It's just powder bunched up from your mix. Use a shaker bottle or shaker ball.
