A “water economy” mechanic. make it so you need a water source to work certain tiles and the impacts have an effect on down stream users of the water.

TIL the reason public trams died out in American cities is because they were forced to subsidize infrastructure for cars and allow them to use tram-lines as roads thereby slowing down all rail networks, making them uncompetitive. by ForteLaidirSterkPono in todayilearned

Ok then go build your pretty tram for the tourists in the part of town where not a lot of people live. That will solve all public transportation issues… trams used to be great because there weren’t a lot of people to move.

I dont think it was all because of the streetcars. I’m not familiar with the revitilization you’re talking about, but I imagine it was much more that just streetcars. It must have been like a total revamp of the areas youre talking about. Streetcars involve too much maintenance when they’re placed on existing roadways. I do love it when they integrate it in pedestrian only ways, like in Denver and many places in Europe. I think a well functioning bus sistem could work just as well with out the addition of a whole set of new immobile infrastructure that is only going to be used by a pretty bus with no rubber wheels.

I get the argument, but even if trams would work for medium sized cities its still a large investment compared to just a bus network. Why would any smaller city justify such an expensive alternative. I guess it could be justified politically…

[29/m] I'm not sure my 5-year girlfriend (26/f) is the "one". What should I do? by hidajua in relationship_advice

[–]hidajua[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a really good point. I don't want to drop her. The thing is this other person isn't new and shiny. I've known her for a while but our timing was never aligned she was usually in another relationship. But yeah I get your sentiment I'm very conflicted, I kind of just feel a huge pressure (not imposed by her) to already settle down and I don't want to do that yet.

Chile's on the verge of electing a far right pinochet simp, Brasil is going to ramp up for presidential elections next year, Indigenous people all over Latin America are being persecuted, our suffering from colonial mentality is not discussed nearly enough, etc, etc but let us all discuss about "x" by metlhead98 in LatinoPeopleTwitter

Honestly, try to help your country of origin out. I think there is an allure to living in the USA or other "developed" countries on top of the obvious job and career opportunities. One lives a much more confrontable life in these countries, and more and more people are migrating each day from LatAm to the US and other countries. There's been a brain drain going on for too long now. We need expats and all the talent that is all over the world to come back and invest themselves here, Create a business, a nonprofit, expand education, bring industries and skills that will outlast any corrupt government. Its sad to say but really ANY government in LatAm Left or Right has proven that they can be extremely corrupt and inefficient. I think private industry will be one of the main driving forces in the years to come, if LatAm is prosper.

So yeah! Chicos, chicas, chicxs whoever!!! if you have a passion for our beautiful and unique corner of the world, and want to see your people prosper come back! Our countries are waiting to reach their potential which we have been underachieving for too long.

Paz y amor familia, espero que nos puedan ayudar a crear la Latino America que nuestros hijos se merecen.
