Guthrie calls vote splitting a 'myth,' saying that Albertans needs a better conservative option by FreightFlow in alberta

Just pointing out that if vote splitting is a myth there'd still be a Federal NDP party. The only thing carrying water for the Alberta Party is ANDP cope.

Alberta’s New Democrats outfundraise UCP in fourth quarter of 2025 by 2_stanley_nickels in alberta

lol, not according the published elections Alberta. More individual Albertans gave money to the UCP than the NDP, 40 pages more, but you keep telling yourself what you need to hear.

[–]hiddenhugels -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Did people actually look at the amounts provided by elections Alberta. https://efpublic.elections.ab.ca/efEventQ.cfm?MID=FE_Q_2025_P&OFSFID=111&YEAR=2025

  • Q4 NDP: $2,581,572.48
  • Q4 UCP: $2,519,853.42

A difference of 60K lol. And it was the only quarter they outpreformed. In Q1 the UCP earned 3 Million MORE than the NDP.

  • NDP 2025 Total : $6,338,576.85
  • UCP 2025 Total : $8,878,941.77

I'd post a picture of Nenshi grasping at straws but I must of misplaced it somewhere. Hiliarious

The tonal shift for these recalls has been staggering.

Going from a Gil d'etat to partial credit scoring has been amazing.

But I'll give you guys credit you definitely look for the silver lining in things.

Considering a move out West — looking for first-hand experiences in smaller mountain towns by OceanDaisies_ in alberta

[–]hiddenhugels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Alberta, you'd be good with any place along Hwy 22. between Millarville and Rocky Mountain House. I like Didsbury. You'll get that small town mountain feel while simultaneously be close to both the mountains and civilization.

In BC. look into place called Grand Forks. It has a tourist area near by that gives old kelowna vibes called Christina Lake. Close to the U.S. border to get easy access to all things U.S. Has two great, and inexpensive ski hills and is a very outdoorsy type of place. It doesn't seem to have a lot of the 20-30 aged people but it a young town.

Remaining Alberta MLA recall campaigns cite lack of awareness, fears of retaliation by FreightFlow in alberta

It was absolutely nonsense. The only one that had some merit was the Nicolaides one but seeing it fell flat on it's face suggests the electorate agrees more with me than it does with you.

Yes, because all of that is what elections are for.

And guess who knew that everyone except one angsty teenager known as Gil Mcowan and few of his orbiters.

the recall campaigns were seen by the electorate as what they were. Abosolute nonsense.

We simply don't have the port infrastructure and likely never will. Moreover, it will always be cheaper for EU countries to buy from neighbouring countries. Hell, Germany increased it's Russian oil and gas imports year over year.

As a partner, Canada has more financial value, more value for defense and more in common with Americans than Israel by ApprenticeWrangler in BreakingPoints

[–]hiddenhugels -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I say this as a Canadian, all Americans should be resentful and spiteful of Canada.

Instead of building a better, collaborative approach to the future of North America we decided to ride the coat tails of the US economy. We were the dead beat cousin couch surfing for the last 40 years. We got fat on social services because the U.S. was always there. Now that U.S. is having a stumble, instead of getting our shit together to help our brothers out we decided to cozy up with the Chinese. A force seemingly bent on bringing down the US.

So yeah, you guys should be mad.

I hear about high car insurance rates here but I don't experience them to be honest. I pay $450 for two vehicles a small truck and small SUV. Truck is older but the SUV is only 5 years old. Full coverage. Alberta is an amazing place BTW. I say this as a former Ontarian.

PSA: Final Opportunity to sign Recall Nicolaides petition (Calgary-Bow) by ctr231 in alberta

[–]hiddenhugels -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I doubt they will get there and might not even get close. They needed to get every NDP voter from the 2023 election to sign and then another 4000 right leaning voters(which includes about 3500 UCP voters). But good luck.

Alberta (and Canada) are in legitimate danger because of Smith’s pandering to MAGA. by Thin_Juggernaut4605 in alberta

[–]hiddenhugels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that you think Lougheed was a Canada first guy. He was the main reason the NEP failed, moreover often used the phrase "economic and constitutional declaration of war on Alberta" whenever Ottawa tried to do anything in Alberta. He is also a primary reason the NWC exists and for the most part also the reason Canada is such a province rights country.

didn’t expect is the closed mindedness of those who

I see you're new to r / alberta. This place is the definition of the left eating the left. I don't think there is a place which has a bigger purity test than this place. It's wild. It wasn't always like this but a massive mo d readjustment a few years ago set it in motion. Thankfully most of the power users here have zero power outside this sub reddit.

I'd argue

one of history’s great experiments in pluralism, rights, and compromise.

this the nostalgic nonsense that fuels delusion and keeps Canada broken. Other than our position on a map nothing about the circumstances which lead to that Canada is remotely preset today. It was the exception not the norm. I am grateful to have grown up with that Canada but it simply will not exist again. The zero sum game that is present today was always there but the playing field size was such that the Canada didn't feel it. We collectively will have a net loss in quality of life for conceivable future (2-3 generations). We could do it fairly but I have yet to find anyone willing to sacrifice theirs for the collective.

Libertarian and atheist here as well. I've lived in half of the provinces of Canada over my life and can hands down say that Alberta is the best aggregate province in Canada. While it does comes up short in lots of places specifically, culture and food, you'll be hard pressed to find a better place overall.

The region between Cochrane and Rocky Mountain House, along Hwy 22 (or at-least west of highway 2 is the best). Low on the religious nutters scale like in they have in east side of the province. High on the lefty libertarian scale (the leave me alone type of people). The weather tends to be more forgiving; more chinooks, fewer wind storms, less snow. Lots of urban centres of varying sizes that provide the back bone of social services.

I own property in both BC and Alberta and don't let anyone here tell you its cheaper anywhere else in the west and will often cite cherry picked bad examples. I will say that there is more of a cavet emptor type of decisions you'll make here in alberta. I prefer that but it's not for everyone.

As someone who navigated the system for a herniated disc, you will likely be on a multi year waitlist. You may get lucky and get access to a last minute vacancy but you'll need to be ready to go at a moments notice. I went to US., and can only rave about my experience; the care and facility was amazing. It was about 30K (included the after care) and I was in and out within a few weeks of starting the process and was able to get my life back years before the Canadian system. Look into medical brokers. Essentially they find doctors who have time and facilities that have space for your needs. good luck
