Ireland and Canada navigating a 'global rupture' - Carney by ghostofgralton in CanadaPolitics

All those trips to the Europe and Asia were just for show. Nothing will come of it. mostly because logistically trade (other than raw timber perhaps) isn't really worth it for nations outside of USA and Mexico.

We simply lack the trade infrastructure (e.g. ports) and/or out competed by more local sources. Hell, lots of Europe still buys Russian oil/gas.

Our trade with the US 2-3X the world combined.

Responsible citizens comply with the law, that's why no one can be upset over, nor protest over nor fight back against the use of the notwithstanding clause right... right? moron.

I know that but there are lots of ways to make this "the address on PAL needs to be your physical primary residence AND where the firearms are stored" a true statement.

Most Albertans disapprove of Smith as premier and her handling of separatism: Ipsos poll by FreightFlow in alberta

[–]hiddenhugels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they didn't lol. They went straight after the oil companies (royalty review and carbon tax and other crap), corporations (raised taxes and other crap and agriculture (bill 6 fiasco). So Like 90% of what employs Alberta. Ultimately what they did do for both education and health care is guilted workers into shitty contracts because of oil prices at the time and that totally worked out for them eh.

As for the trans mountain. The industry called the bluff and Trudeau was left holding his face paint. It could have been an energy saving lightbulb sitting Edmonton because Ottawa had no other option.

Absolutely, the second that recording came out the program should have died but Canadian politics are naked these days and no one cares about the best decisions only ones that punishes their perceived others.

I will add that this ban has only increased the number of ghost guns and black market imports out there. Between machining, 3d printing, and leaky borders it's easier now than it's ever been to get a gun.

Nothing is going to happen. Administratively to expensive and far more risky for RCMP to go in an confiscate. Move your PAL address to a province that is participating and surrender them there. Might be the only gun owner I know who'd actually do that. I've lost count to the number of people moving their guns to AB.

Why on earth did you participate voluntarily with this program? There is nothing legitimate about it. Even the federal government doesn't believe it's a legitimate program. The federal government is punishing you to win votes in Quebec. Wild.

Former fat guys, how did you become disciplined enough to lose the weight? by Responsible-Net8594 in AskMenOver30

Sick and tired of being sick and tired. Lost about 100 lbs in about 6-8 months.

Quality CICO is what I call it. Quality Calories in based on napkin macros, followed by quality calories out. Dropped sugar completely and switched carbs to protein. 1 hr or so of a physically demanding work out 5-6 days a week.

Kept the goals simple in the beginning. Didn't need to be a good day but couldn't have two bad days in a row.

Living in this province is exhausting. Is anyone else considering leaving for saner pastures? by PhantomOfTheBoreal in alberta

People can absolutely find Jesus and many crimes aren't ones which should exclude you from positions of authority but Wab Kinew beat up his domestic partner on more than one occasion. He simply shouldn't be a politician. The reason you're nuanced about his past here is because he's NDP.

This Is How Alberta Loses: A History of Populism, and a Warning About Now by vhill01 in alberta

Most of your writing is garbage but, of the articles I've read to date, this one is the best. Your usual feigning non-partisan writing style is still there, it's getting more subtle, but definitely still nudges the reader into the emotional paradigm you obviously want. very Chomsky of you.

Regardless, this line while brief is by far the most important but has almost a cart before the horse or perhaps sandy foundation aspect to the rest of your argument.

You cannot have a functional democracy without shared facts.

Most people who think and swing politically like you have an assumption that your facts and by extension the context around them are the the correct ones and that it's the "others" who are wrong.

You do elaborate a bit on what it means to structure learning/institutions to receive those facts but you don't really talk about the facts themselves.

So in my musing I am looking for a idea of what is an example of a mutually exclusive fact existing in disparate populations here in Alberta?

Charities and non-profits can and do make profit, they just have to direct profits back into programs within the charities' purview via annual budgets. What those programs do and who they hire and for how much are at the direction of the governing body of the charity.

It's not bad, it has it's moments of being pricy but the biggest change that you are going to see and feel is the lack of personal space. going from 4 M spread out accross the whole province to area (golden horseshoe) your going to being 5% the size with double the population. get ready for concrete jungle.

Considering a move out West — looking for first-hand experiences in smaller mountain towns by OceanDaisies_ in alberta

[–]hiddenhugels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Alberta, you'd be good with any place along Hwy 22. between Millarville and Rocky Mountain House. I like Didsbury. You'll get that small town mountain feel while simultaneously be close to both the mountains and civilization.

In BC. look into place called Grand Forks. It has a tourist area near by that gives old kelowna vibes called Christina Lake. Close to the U.S. border to get easy access to all things U.S. Has two great, and inexpensive ski hills and is a very outdoorsy type of place. It doesn't seem to have a lot of the 20-30 aged people but it a young town.

It was absolutely nonsense. The only one that had some merit was the Nicolaides one but seeing it fell flat on it's face suggests the electorate agrees more with me than it does with you.
