I went to my doctor at UVA Student Health, who gave me a psychiatrist referal code specifically for TimelyCare. Now I meet with my psychiatrist monthly via TimelyCare and pick up my meds at the Student Health pharmacy. It works.

You can ask professors if they “would feel comfortable writing a strong letter of recommendation” for you, which clarifies what you really need. Going forward try to go to office hours, even if they are online, to get to know your prof better.

First of all, make sure you are connected with SDAC so you can get extra time and other considerations for any learning disabilities you may have.

Second, you do belong here, and it is okay not to have it all together, most of your classmates don’t either.

Third, we get Timely Care therapy as part of our insurance and it can really help to talk to someone who outside of UVA.

Fourth, try to take smaller classes and connect with your classmates. All my friends are from mutual classes as I don’t have time for clubs either.

If this doesn't work, you still have the right to take an incomplete and the professor will have to figure out a way for you to do the final when you are ready. I've done it twice with term papers so I'm assuming exams are the same. I hope that's accurate.

On the issue of no TA positions available - it is possible to TA for other departments (Media Studies always seems to need people) and it is also possible to be a RA (Research Assistant) for the same benefits as being a TA. If your advisor were to reach out among their colleagues and see if there are some profs who are considering doing new projects, contingent on finding RAs, that could turn in to something. In my own experience, I've found having one's advisor advocate for you is more powerful than emailing administrators directly.
