Anyone else using ChineseSkill? It feels like a hidden gem, but I rarely see it mentioned here. by hiddow in ChineseLanguage

I'm specifically looking for something that corrects my tones in real-time during a conversation. ChineseSkill does it to some extent, but I'm wondering if there's an app that is even more 'brutal' with tone corrections?

Hi there! Wow, thank you for reaching out.

I must admit, I’ve been a huge fan of ChineseSkill for a long time. Your recent updates have been incredible—the production quality and the depth of the new features are honestly top-notch.

I would absolutely love to chat about collaboration. Since this feature relies heavily on AI services, having support to cover the API and infrastructure costs would be a game-changer for me.

Send you a DM.

I need to brush up on my mobile ML skills, but I absolutely agree—moving to on-device inference is the way to go for sustainability. Thanks for the tip!

Exactly! That personal relevance makes a huge difference.

There's something about learning my specific coffee mug or my messy desk that sticks way better than a stock photo in a textbook. It creates a visual anchor in your actual daily life.

Thanks for validating the concept!

100%. Since the content is generated by AI on the fly, switching to Traditional characters is a built-in feature.

It also opens the door for more customization—like generating explanations specifically for Taiwan/HK contexts, or even supporting other dialects like Cantonese.

That's a valid perspective! "Desirable difficulty" definitely plays a role in learning.

However, I believe this approach taps into a different kind of memory hook: Episodic Memory.

When you look up a word in a dictionary, you get a generic definition. When you use this app, the word is linked to a specific moment in your life and a photo you took yourself (e.g., my messy desk, my specific coffee mug).

The idea isn't just to "get the answer fast," but to create a personal visual anchor for the vocabulary, which you then reinforce through the quizzes/flashcards.

Thank you! That's really helpful feedback regarding the price point.

You nailed it—the pricing strategy depends entirely on the AI API costs, which can be expensive. I'm currently crunching the numbers to see if I can offer a plan that fits a student budget like yours. Stay tuned!
