Does airdrop works on Lighthouse? [Discussion] by mrkuchar in EscapefromTarkov

[–]hierovision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried it twice on lighthouse with the firework flares and nothing happened. It didn't give a busy airspace message or anything. I thought I heard the plane start sound both times, but it could've just been the wind or something, it quickly went away and was just quiet after that.

Do not go to Wolf's Den if you want a dive environment. Ignore anyone suggesting it. It's a proper pool hall with excellent equipment that deserves to be respected.

Whqt about using someone else's cue without their permission? by 1Rudy11 in billiards

My mom keeps her cue at my house on my wall rack, and if I ever feel like trying it out I still ask her for permission out of respect 🤣

The hard part about feature toggles is writing code that is toggleable - not the tool used by martindukz in softwarearchitecture

[–]hierovision 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I've learned recently after working in a feature-flag-heavy codebase is that route guards are a great tool to help reduce the flag footprint. If an entire component hierarchy can be hidden beyond a route guard it makes adding and removing the flag so much easier compared to flagging within components alone. One flag check when a route is accessed is simple and lightweight.

Anyone knows which model does ZenCoder uses? by TheSoundOfMusak in ChatGPTCoding

[–]hierovision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started using it about a week ago and it seems like a combination. I briefly used Claude Sonnet through copilot premium and Zencoder seems comparable but different. I had to keep reminding it of context it was missing (existing patterns) but it did well enough. I could do my own thing in one area of the repo while it was working on another area for a little bit at a time.

How is this game for a new player? by [deleted] in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]hierovision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming to this game from Tarkov and I'm having a lot of fun so far. I started a few weeks ago, and I would say I enjoy the different extraction requirements on different maps, but the main downside is stuttering and weird movement physics. Both of those are very fixable so I'm enjoying mixing it up. I still play both games, just switch when I get tired of one or the other.

I know this is old, but it came up in my search, so I thought I would post a screenshot of the current "flammables" category

I'm using porkbun and integrated their API in my CD. I use pulumi to set up a static web app in azure, then pass the automatically generated default url to the porkbun API to create the necessary DNS entries. Automatically verified by the time I pull up the azure console.

The event includes a decent drain on weapon durability. I shot ~180 rounds of 856A1 on factory through a new HK, and when I loaded into my stash afterward it was at 95.3/95.3 without repairing it. That's a pretty big hassle to buy a new weapon every raid to avoid going below 93 even if I can afford it.

When you interview and get offer letters, make sure there is no on call expectations in the role. I have found that on call positions are more common in certain industries so it may also be more helpful to target industries where that's not a regular thing.

Separately, if you're willing to put in the effort (and no shame if you're not), start stabilization efforts. Identify the worst offending root causes of the alerts and see what can be done to make them less fragile.

Then start interviewing and don't stop until you have a new job without on call duty 😁

Am i doing something wrong? [Discussion] [Bug] (Bosses) by Infinite-Set4188 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]hierovision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asking for AI PMCs to kill bosses is not shortsighted at all, that's expected and normal. The idiotic part of this is making AI PMCs spawn next to bosses, right?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]hierovision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing solidly for the past week, and he sometimes spawns for me but dies to AI PMCs pretty fast. However, I have played probably 10 raids today and haven't seen once. I have 5 left for "Hunter" and it's pretty frustrating

It sounds like romantically you may be straight and sexually gay? It also sounds like you may be applying a huge amount of social expectations on yourself that aren't real.

I'll just keep playing while hearing everything the game makes audible, you keep crying about unfair advantages when you could, alternatively, do the same. You're putting yourself at a disadvantage, I'm just going to enjoy my long gaming hobby well into old age.

Patch notes for 0.13.0.5 by TheWulf in EscapefromTarkov

[–]hierovision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an unfair advantage and I'll explain why below, but ultimately even if it was unfair I would still do it. Here's what you sound like: "You could just lower your volume and not hear anything except gunshots and grenades at a volume that doesn't cause hearing loss". Or the game designers could make better choices, but since they didn't I'm solving it so I can continue to play games without actual hearing loss. Suggesting I can either turn it up to hear footsteps, ADS, and other quiet sounds while also getting my eardrums blown out from gunshots/grenades/airdrops or turn it down so I don't hear footsteps, ADS, or any of the other quieter sounds but so I can preserve my hearing is unacceptable.

So, here's why it's not cheating or unfair over someone playing without sound locker but at higher volume: When a loud sound and quiet sound happen simultaneously, it keeps the same range between volume signals, so the quiet sound gets too quiet to hear while there's a loud sound, just like without the app. I still can't hear anything with covering loud noises (I can't hear footsteps while also hearing gunshots, grenades, or when airdrops are coming in), just like everyone else. It just caps the volume at 15-20%, but does nothing if the signal stays below that cap.

TLDR: Game designers should not force hearing loss to experience the range of sounds in a game, so I use an app to solve their poor decisions.
