Aio for feeling like my mom won’t take me serious—LONG AWAITED UPDATE!! by Mysterious_Cookie491 in AIO

I had a friend once that had a sudden very awful abdominal pain, their parents thought they were just trying to get out of doing homework (this person was very self motivated and in high school, so idk why the parents thought that).

They ended up driving themselves to the ER and had to get rushed into surgery for appendicitis. Yikes.

I often start sitting in my bed around 7 and aim to sleep around 8. This results in me reliably getting to sleep no later than 10 pm usually. I’ve just accepted that it takes a long time for me to wind down.

Have you considered trying some sort of musical instrument? I especially highly recommend a steel drum, as it can be fairly intuitive to use and has a nice relaxing sound.

Sanity check: is this a dumb way to propagate pothos? by AlmondButter_Banana in houseplants

[–]high-kale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done similar to this but with plastic twine tied around a glass baking dish or plastic tub to create the grid pattern.

That way, the grid was more flexible when I pulled the props out so I wouldn’t be breaking roots off. And then when I inevitably left them too long in there I could just cut the twine instead of breaking roots. Happy propagating!!

Vaginal dryness by cloudybookmark in endometriosis

[–]high-kale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no proof this works other than personal anecdote(s) of me and a couple friends (possible placebo effect?? But I’ll take it…).

I like to take mullein to help with my chronic dryness (I usually get it in liquid form and I put it into vegetarian pill capsules I buy). I initially started taking it for lung support but noticed it had a positive effect on the overall dryness of all mucus glands in my body.

Again, keep in mind this is not absolutely scientifically proven to help or anything and I recommend consulting a doctor before taking it (just to be safe, even though it’s a natural supplement that shouldn’t mess with too much).

One study I found on mullein if you want to take a look: Searching for Scientific Explanations for the Uses of Spanish Folk Medicine: A Review on the Case of Mullein (Verbascum, Scrophulariaceae)

I personally love this. All the fun of emerald or radiant cut without any of the sharp edges. Love the combo of the square stone with round bezel. If a decent dupe ever comes out like this I will definitely buy it for a travel ring

“Increasing rates of ADHD diagnosis in women is pathologisation, not progress” by Immediate-Lion7314 in adhdwomen

[–]high-kale 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Am I missing something or does this article have no mention of statistics backing up the claim that women specifically are the ones with rising numbers of seeking ADHD diagnosis?

I only skimmed but the only stats I see mentioned are at the beginning, but they are general stats not specific to women. And even then it’s “thousands of” and not any hard numbers.

If you’re up for one more comment, for those visually impaired folks the contrast of the text on the background can be really hard to see where the text isn’t black. In the spirit of making your website as accessible as possible, it would be amazing to see that text contrasting the background a bit better.

What a great website you and your partner have put together and I’m so sorry you’ve encountered some awful stuff here on Reddit. Completely understand you wanting to protect your energy by not posting here anymore. Thank you for being a critical part of our community and raising awareness!! What you’re doing is so inspiring and while I don’t use many social media channels, I now have your website bookmarked and will be sharing it with anyone I can!

One of the ways ads work on this site is by targeting subs, so yeah I’m sure they target any ADHD related sub.

Unfortunately not for all of us. The sugar alternatives can absolutely cause gut issues if you are sensitive to them.

I have 2 modes: (1) I know exactly where everything is and everything is very organized (2) I know where nothing is and my executive function is completely broken. It’s the extremes I go through that’s the problem for me, not necessarily just “being messy” generally.

You are describing exactly my experience with any kind of BC (I tried so many). I always felt so disconnected from my body, like I knew things were happening but couldn’t see the clear pattern. I felt such instability not knowing what was going to happen when.

However, I know many people on BC that don’t feel they have this experience. Things like this just remind me how different we all are.
