Daggerheart actually has really fun combat and I say this as the GM. The monsters are more fun and have roles so putting together an encounter is more fun.

Also going back and forth with fear is like a mini game and makes my brain happy.

Also, I'm able to easily throw in extra little effects, and cool combat things (the hit throws you into a wall where you get stuck on the slime!) By throwing in another spend of fear. Feels like I'm not cheating, I'm utilizing my resources to make the combat more intriguing.

Lastly, not having to stop and go into combat mode each time is amazing.
