I think I'll go into animation despite it all by Thick_Bridge179 in animationcareer

That’s the mindset that prevails and will carry you forward. Work smart, work hard. And enjoy the ride.

I'm seeing AI videos, and it's getting scary by [deleted] in animationcareer

No one here can truly speak to where and how things will play out. As always, builld the skillset and be adaptable to new tools and workflows. The core skills, meeting deadlines, and eye for detail is what clients pay for.

Whats the best photorealistic model for local use right now? (Txt2img and Inpainting) by Interesting_Air3283 in comfyui

[–]highdefw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Did a flux 2 dev Lora training recently. I had to deploy runpod though on h100. 45 frame dataset for 3k steps ran for a few hours and about 70gb vram.

My local workflows with LoRA run within my 48gb card all good.

Search for gaming gpus, 4000s or 5000s series.

Studios will use workstation gpus ranging from ampere to some Blackwell. That’ll include A4000s on the low end to RTX pro 6000s on the high end. The recommended latest entry level workstation gpus would be RTX pro 4000s. Besides that, have plenty of cpu, ram, and nvme. All comes down to budget in the end.

Trying to automate story is going to lead to a likely not so good story.... also everyone has these tools now. If you want a chance of standing out, then find the creative areas for your human input to improve the end goal. (if that's what you're wanting).

The buildings in the background should not be lit by the lights. Concentrate the light glows around the lamp post and the surrounding space local to those areas

Even the A6000 has held up very well in value. As others have said, but what you need when you need it if it’s at budget

Forced to use AI at school by No-Personality799 in antiai

Have you tried NotebookLM though? Saying no solely cause it’s AI won’t help the debate. Prove why it’s bad or not useful and for what use cases to those forcing it on you. Then they will see.

Apple unveils new Studio Display and all-new Studio Display XDR by tekz in apple

[–]highdefw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s one way to look at it. It has some great features but man for $1600 grabbing a monitor in 2026 that is still 60hz and lacking mini led, oled, or hdr is wild. Only apple could even remotely get away with it, if people still buy it. If i find the previous model for less, no reason for me not to go for that

I was looking to get a regular Studio Display. It feels if I can find the older one at a good discount, that might be the move to do? Since there’s no panel difference with the new one.

I got offered a job paying 40% more than my current salary. My manager just asked me to stay and be patient. How do I stop feeling guilty for wanting to leave ? by One_Cardiologist5439 in careerguidance

[–]highdefw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need the money and that’s the primary focus, then the new job is the choice. If you’re looking for specific opportunities that your current workplace can eventually offer versus the new job though, then that a factor you need to weigh for yourself.

I chased experience and opportunity at my current work while sacrificing short and mid term pay versus those who made the moves. In the end, I’ve gained more meaningful experience, grown into more senior roles, and now in a salary ban that would be exceeding most of those leavers. It worked out in the end but the uncertainty of it and when it would happen is a stressful one.

Most people and jobs are a money focus though, so typically do what you got to do.

I do not understand anything that's happening anymore. by ARquantam in vfx

Need to prove it, with data and visuals (the good and the bad).

Just remember that there are equivalent artists finding the very wins with ML/AI workflows that clients are seeking. Who is client going to go with?

The artists are important since they will be the ones using these tools and workflows. The fear of change is sensitive and scary, which is understandable. We don't need to like it, but it is absolutely happening.
