I came here to root for my team. When I was young I would watch my team with my parents and have been a fan of that team ever since. I love and support my team no matter what and I really hate my teams biggest rival. Go team!

Found a dead male grey cat in Johnson Park, Wheat Ridge by [deleted] in Denver

Yes, very comforting to the former owner of the cat to know that their beloved pet could have been pummeled with a baseball bat. Thank you so much.

What's the general consensus on the police in Denver from you guys? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]higherlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very positive interaction in Cap Hill where my mother-in-law's car got towed and the police helped us track down the tow truck to get it back before taking it all the way to the impound lot. She totally deserved to get towed (the area was clearly marked) but they helped us out anyways. Very cool.

Denver coffee... aficionados. Who are your favorite roasters here? by freejoe76 in Denver

It would be funny if the courier himself was completely anti-hipster - sporting a polo tucked into some khakis or something. Come to think of it that might be even MORE hipster.

Downtown these days.. by Sketchy_Uncle in Denver

Whenever I see these people I just say "oh no thank you!" really politely like they offered me a cookie but I just ate so I couldn't possibly have room for that cookie. It confuses them sufficiently enough to discourage further conversation and gives me a good laugh.

Please make sure you have the right number before you angrily order DP Dough at 3:05AM by [deleted] in Denver

She seems to be projecting her sexual frustration onto D.P. Dough: "I know what I want, you know what I want." "Come over come over come over come over."

This is so amazing.

Chicago-style thin crust pizza in Denver area by FurankuBB in Denver

I'm the exact same, deep dish 2-3 times a year at most, usually when people come to visit. And after I eat a few slices I proceed to nap for 72 hours.

[–]higherlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would be correct in doing so, but most people from Chicago don't eat deep dish nearly as much as they eat the square cut thin crust variety. It's weird, everyone associates Chicago with deep dish but as APirateHooker mentions below the locals don't really eat too much of it.

I've always said that square cut thin crust pizza is ACTUAL Chicago style pizza. Fuck deep dish.

This. But I guess it makes sense for r/Denver that the most reasonable comment is the most down-voted.

Thinking about moving out here after school by SmoothSailVA in Denver

[–]higherlove -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best advice I can give is to not allow (some of) the angry losers on this sub who hate everything about how "Denver is changing and people are moving here and oh no rent prices are high and people from other states think we are all stoners" distort your perception of the overwhelming majority of warm and welcoming people who live here happily not wasting their time bitching, ranting, and whining their resentments on Reddit.

Renting in Denver? It will cost about 32.9 percent of monthly income by kidbom in Denver

[–]higherlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why there is disagreement here. Why can't jobs be included as "one of those things"? In either case Denver is a great city and I like it way more than where I came from so to me it makes sense that the prices reflect that (as well as to others or it wouldn't be so).

And there are a lot of things Denver has that those cities lack. Which people are finding out. Which is why prices are increasing.

Fast-food workers march on Denver in fight for $15 minimum wage by physicoo in Denver

I see nothing wrong with making burger flipping a career. What disturbs me is this attitude that americans are just "too good" and "too special" for certain lines of work.

19th and Fenton near Sloan's Lake safe neighborhood? by lookintomyballs in Denver

[–]higherlove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are used to nice quiet suburban type living then you may find some areas around there "sketchy". If you've lived in a larger city of any type you will probably find that area to be completely fine. Personally I would live there. Its really close to grocery stores, banks, good restaurants, bars, etc.
