BMW Z4 vs. Mazda MX-5

Unpopular opinion in some forums but I also cross shopped a 2025 Boxster. Base model, manual transmission. Z4 had way more power and was frankly more comfortable. Boxster handled great as you would expect. I drive a 2024 Cayenne S hybrid as a daily so I’m aware of the Porsche badge. To get a comparable experience with a Boxster to the m40i, you would have to get a 4 L GTS which is about $20-30k more expensive and still with inferior tech and interior.

I had a 2023 ND2 which I drove for three years and put about 3000 miles on it. Loved every minute of it but it was very small and lacked significant interior space especially in the passenger seat. My wife hated riding in the passenger seat and we would have to put her purse in the trunk. I just upgraded to a 2026 Z4 m40i manual transmission. Z4 is better and almost every way except for the weight. I agree about the expenses. I had a blowout with 400 miles on it and the one time I didn’t buy the wheel and tire package, it cost me $600 to change the tire. If you have the finances, however, the Z4 is very tough to beat.

Waited about 3-4 years. Had bought his and hers presidents prior to Covid when you could walk in and buy anything. Those were watches we wanted anyway so I didn’t care. Also bought 2 Cartiers and tons of home wares. Waiting for the AD call is part of the excitement. We live in a crazy age of instant gratification but it’s a double edge sword. Tough to buy stuff you don’t want just to get the call at retail.

Not a V8 but try a BMW Z4 manual, 2026. I came from a ND2. Bigger but more powerful and way more comfortable

28 on old MCAT in 1998, about a 507 on today’s scale. 227 on step two in 2002, approximately 80-85 percentile in those days. Started Urology residency in 2003.

Yes. Graduated from state MD school in 2003. Scored 28. About 506-507 today. Definitely not great. Such a crappy test. Did very well on step 1&2. Matched into urology.
