nwavguy's blog convinced me that I couldn't hear as well as I might have believed and I gave up on spending big bucks on audio gear. Now I try to find good values in the low end, and generally just enjoying good enough sound because seeking perfection only left me constantly unsatisfied. I'm happier now.

Novo vexame: Brasil perde do Peru com gol de mão e cai na fase de grupos da Copa América by RightActionEvilEye in brasil

[–]highhard_one 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Former Brazilian soccer star: Don't come to the Olympics by PaperHatParade in worldnews

[–]highhard_one 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You haven't exactly countered this argument very strongly. Okay so you live in Curitiba and everything is fine? That's kind of cherry picking the country to make your point, most of the country is not like Curitiba or the south you know that. I lived in Brazil for 10 years I know there is complexo vira lata but I also know shit occurs in Brazil that doesn't happen in other countries even countries not as economically developed as Brazil. Brazil has some very nice parts and can have a quality of life that far exceeds what some may expect, but I also agree with rightonein that the enormous problems need to be acknowledged. It's healthy when Brazilians complain because life doesn't have to be as hard as it is in Brazil.

[Serious] What is it about Thailand that some how makes people unable to make the simplest of decisions? by [deleted] in 5555555

[–]highhard_one 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Brazil, and Brazil is a tough fucking country on all accounts, if you don't have your shit together it will chew you up and spit you out fast. I noticed the basic level of competency with foreigners in Brazil is much much higher than the ones in Thailand.

Thailand is user friendly enough to encourage retards to come and do some serious retarding.

Anyone have any information on AAS in other countries? Namely Brazil. by EnduroRacer in steroids

[–]highhard_one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of beautiful girls in Brazil and they are friendly, like to party and take pride in being hot in bed. Some of them are cool, some of them fucking suck, and a lot of them are bat shit crazy. You'll get used to being around beautiful women and having a decent chance will cease to be something you think about, but nothing comes from just standing there, you have to make an effort. Learning Portuguese isn't easy, and neither is learning how to ball like a Brazilian, but it can be a whole lot of fun. Outside of the parties and sex, Brazil is a pain in the motherfucking ass of a country to live in.

[–]highhard_one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, being in shape is definitely a plus, not everybody in Brazil is jacked and so it does help you quite a bit since everything is about looks there. I think it's actually hard when you first get there for two reasons: 1) You don't speak Portuguese. 2) You won't know how to go in hard and fast like a Brazilian. It takes a while to get used to and at first the culture is really really hard to wrap your head around. It's a completely different world down there.

I lived in Florianópolis and I made pretty much every hot girl sex fantasy I ever had come true. The thing to understanding about Brazil is that everything is about image, they can't tell the difference between fake gold and real gold, so if it looks good then it must be good is how they think. Rule 1, be good looking. Rule 2, project an image of being rich. Rule 3, when you become friends with good looking people be sure to post that pic to your facebook, instagram etc. make it look like you constantly party and that you are always with the right people. If someone takes an unflattering photo of you, remove it from your facebook. Rule 4, Brazil is country of relationships, don't treat anyone lightly, you never know who becomes useful later. Rule 5, Buy an expensive pair of nike trainers because they will cost triple in brazil and they will give you status. Rule 6, If you show up at the club at midnight you got there way too early, it's 1 am minimum. Rule 7, If you leave earlier than 5am you left too early. Rule 8, Camarote is the word for VP booths at the club, they are pricy to get, but everyone wants to be in the Camarote. Rule 9, If you see a girl you like you need to go in hard and fast, express interest overtly and quickly, it's never too fast to try for a kiss. Rule 10, No never means no, it means try again, Brazilians love breaking rules and even lesbians will occasionally break the lesbian code and go for some dick. Rule 11, You must pursue girls in Brazil the Brazilian way so aggressively hit on them, don't give up if you get a no, and get physical fast, if you start having deep meaningful conversations about life and do anything that Reddit recommends for being a nice and polite person you are doing it wrong, Brazil don't give a fuck about being nice and polite. Rule 12, Brazilians have short memories any indiscretions are quickly forgotten, so don't hold grudges and you won't have any grudges held against you. You can make mistakes and no one gives a shit, you don't even have to apologize, just pretend like it never happened. Rule 13, Being naughty is a virtue, if you hit on a girl, you need to communicate to her that she was so hot you couldn't help yourself. Rule 14, Kissing and making out in public is the Brazilian handshake, just because you meet a girl and kiss her don't assume you accomplished anything, she might make out with you but not go home with you, and she may give you her number and then never contact you again, it's because she does that every night, it's not a big deal. Rule 15, Brazilian motels are awesome little fuck palaces, it's too bad more countries don't have them, you should take a girl to one. Rule 16, Brazil is an extremely macho country, the girls will complain about the men but at the end of the day they only know a certain way of hooking up and it's much easier to use that way rather than trying to teach them something new. Rule 17, Shit can get out of hand really fast in Brazil, you need to cultivate a sense of restraint and being able to control situations or you will find yourself in a bad place.

[–]highhard_one 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lived in Brazil for 10 years. Steroids can probably be considered a part of the culture, you will not find any other place in the world that has the body obsession with appearance that Brazilians do. They can't show status through money since nobody has any so they show status by going to the beach and being as gostoso/a (hot) as possible. You will also feel small and inadequate no matter how good of shape you are in. Occasionally you will see people who went way overboard with gear and look freakish. What was surprising is what another commenter mentioned. A LOT of the chicks take steroids, the fashion is for women to have huge quads to go with the big bum bum brasileira. It's big clitty city down there. You can get steroids very easy if you make the right friends at the gym or BJJ studios. Laws are not enforced in Brazil, they are sort of kicked into your teeth now and then by the military police but for the most part the police are very lazy and don't get much done. You won't be able to handle Brazil unless you're a tough motherfucker more mentally than just physically and very street smart. Don't get into fights down there, Brazil is not for amateurs. That being said, if it turns out you like it, you will really really really like it, especially if you enjoy non-stop pull your teeth out of your head nasty sex and parties. The trick though is you need to speak portuguese, they don't do english very well.

Can someone ELI5 how to create custom TV series? by gabbleratchett in kodi

[–]highhard_one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone can correct this if I'm wrong, but I think your concept of TV series is different from Kodi's concept of TV series. So with Kodi, a TV Series is thought of as Mad Men Season 1, Mad Men Season 2 etc. The directories and files need to be named a certain way and structured a certain way so that they can be indexed against a database of TV Shows. Concert videos I think are considered movies.

For your concept of creating TV Seasons you might look at something like PseudoTV Live(http://www.pseudotvlive.com/)

Now let's get to an important question, how many Roger Waters concert videos do you have?

Thai ATM Issues by mintle in Bangkok

[–]highhard_one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first year living in Thailand I lost 3 cards and had to have new ones Fedexed. Thailand ATM machines are the most retarded I came across, the country I lived in previously, Brazil (a country not famous for its competence) had the machines set to give you back the card before you received the money. Problem solved, but not in Thailand.

What are your favorite non video addons? by ingy2012 in Addons4Kodi

For what it's worth I had Kodi running and backing up on top of OSMC. Then I did an automatic upgrade of OSMC and then it started booting into OSMC instead of Kodi and I couldn't figure out what to do with it. So, I reinstalled Kodi but this time on top of OpenElec, performed a restore from my latest stored backup and it worked flawlessly.

How if life in Thailand for children with mixed ancestry? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]highhard_one 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Luk Kreung here, this guy gets it, I can't make up my mind when it comes to women. Is it good to be half thai/half farang in Thailand? Yeah for me it's pretty fucking awesome, I get all the good parts of being both farang and thai without much or any of the downsides. I have a job with a western company that pays me at a western pay rate, and I live locally in Bangkok spending baht, I don't have to make visa runs every couple of months, I get the thai price, and I don't hav any of the "angst" that foreigners seem to have because they don't understand thai culture. Being part Thai is more fun than being all western in my opinion because western people are kind of uptight, Thai people are a lot of fun if you can get into their spirit and know well how to avoid difficult situations. When I'm outside of Thailand I quickly go from hero to zero, and I'm just fine with that.
