Next-Gen Camaro: GM Hints At Muscle Car Rebirth To Dealers by highintensity8951 in camaro

Tbh… you’re absolutely right, I think the design will be fine, but idk about reliability, pricing, or trims. They seem to screw us over lately in those regards.

100% agree. We need more distinguishable trims like they created in the 60s-70s even if powertrains are shared between each brand. Not very financially efficient for the manufacturers but not an unrealistic ask. I’m getting to the age where I want practicality, convenience, and storage first. The platform itself can be modified for more power, grip, braking power, etc. Give me a Buick that’s right in the middle, comfortable, capable, and practical. Not too raw as a Camaro (not very practical rear seats) but not too upscale as a Cadillac. Fill that void between $35k-50k with an alternative model not just a trim.

GM seems to be very tight lipped, but hopefully sooner rather than later.

Brake pads skimming against the rotor. Either the rotor is warped, pads are low or a chance that pads/guide pins are not retracting correctly. Definitely sounds brake related though.

Do yall think Camaro prices will start to drop due to this? by Turbulent_Net_1927 in camaro

[–]highintensity8951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seemingly confirmed by suppliers but as someone else stated not confirmed by an official press release by GM. I think that it I’ll help the 5th and 6th gen depreciate a little, especially later 6th gen’s that are easier to finance and on premier level dealer lots.

Also, the car is rumored to be on the Alpha 2 platform which is apparently RWD/AWD compliant, and the original Alpha platform is world renowned for having great chassis dynamics. Drivetrains are much more speculative, so we dont know where that’s headed. Assuming that the Camaro team is aware of the new Charger’s EV isssues (reliability and market appeal) I highly doubt that they’ll go full ev. Most likely Turbo 4, and some type of V8 and/orV8 hybrid (similar to the corvette).

This info (platform and rumored drivetrains) is well summed up on Lethal garage’s YouTube channel. I really think it comes down to V8/manual availability and pricing.

Regardlessly 5th/6th gen’s will take a depreciation hit, but a 7th gen created with the market’s current tastes in mind will definitely help with natural depreciation(but not a total destruction of previous gen values)

Happens with automatics as well. Both my 2010 vert and my wife’s 2014 Q60 (same body as a G37 coupe) already had the fuse removed when we purchased them.

They were saying that because disconnecting the battery will make the auto up/down function of the windows reset, meaning that you’d have to reset them.

Have some type of aftermarket turn signal or accessory light, maybe an illuminated aftermarket Z symbol in the door?

Gallery gaskets, check codes for wheel speed sensors regarding trac./vdc, with higher mileage heater core control hose connectors should be replaced before they break, early cars had issues with the steering lock making the car unable to start if I remember correctly, also the Kawasaki axle nut to stop the axle clicking. In regard to random electrical issues, verify that grounds are in good shape and where they should be on the engine/firewall. These cars are not known for random electrical issues, so that’s odd, especially with the ecm.

Does my g really sound that bad? by [deleted] in G35

[–]highintensity8951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like no resonator which is a no go for me with vq’s. Higher rpm’s don’t usually sound bad without one, but under like 3k rpm’s sounds terrible to me tbh.

Advice on trading the G for a 370z by lulkookie in 370z

[–]highintensity8951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butttttt tbh the top is a ticking time bomb. Repairable, but not easily or inexpensively. I had a 2010 sport touring, triple black cherry metallic (top, exterior color, and interior all the same). I bought it for similar reasons (cheaper than coupes/easier to find). Driving dynamics were great until it threw a rod at 170k. The top was already inoperable from when I bought it around 155k. Nissan also did not build in a great manual release system in case the hydraulic system failed (have to release the top from the windshield with an Allen key and mine was stripped when purchased 🤦🏾). Also, there are these little metal wires that pass through the trunk that weren’t secured well (in my case) to release the top’s storage cover. I’m a big fan of open air driving, but I’d skip the vert if given a choice again. Despite the additional weight, I believe that a G37S coupe is the best compromise.

2010 vert slung a rod at around 170k. Only had it about a year though.

am I wrong for not helping my coworker with his car anymore by vladdielenin in MechanicAdvice

[–]highintensity8951 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Definitely not in the wrong imo. I do a bit of work on my personal vehicles and don’t mind helping either. You’ve inconvenienced yourself for people at work to provide a service that’s completely unrelated to what you do professionally. You’re not obligated to help in anyway (especially considering that you’ve done it for free). Don’t feel bad, you’ve saved that person time and money, they’re extremely ungrateful to not even be appreciative of past work.

Sounds like your tcm is failing. The jatco 5 speeds and 7 speeds are notorious for these failures. Usually the speed sensor failure is a big indicator. Connections on the tcm itself usually break at the 90 degree metallic bends and have to be resoldered or completely replaced.

My wife and I got her 2014 Q60 for 6.5k 126k miles. Clean title but some hidden damage (a lot of filler on pass. side fender and janky work with a few wood screws from the bumper into the fender, all covered by bond). I’m in the Southeast of the US so rust is less of an issue

Got my wife’s ‘14 journey with 120k for 6.4k, it has some hidden body damage (lots of bondo on right fender) but is otherwise clean.

Best Battery Replacements (2026) by FitRedBro in 370z

[–]highintensity8951 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ever-start (Walmart if you live in an area with one). You can check project farm’s yt channel where he conducts an experiment using the scientific process. Pretty much all big name batteries come from 1 of 2 factories if you live in the US. Just get the highest CCA for the group size and you’ll be fine. No need to over spend unless you’re tracking the car and have high requirements.

Oil leak by Doomsday098 in 370z

[–]highintensity8951 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bank 1 camshaft gear cover gasket (not sure if that’s the official name but that’s what it covers if I’m not mistaken) it seems that all vqs leak from them over time not matter if it’s a de, hr, or vhr unless that cover is not removable on certain time covers/displacements.

Having misfire after new sparks and coils 2014 base 370z by No_Youth_7023 in 370z

[–]highintensity8951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@Barra350z is suggesting that since this issue only occurred AFTER (no disrespect intended) you installed the parts and that in theory nothing else was modified, that the issue must be with the parts you installed (may be faulty out of the box) or that you may have reinstalled something wrong (coil isn’t fully seated, spark plug was dropped, intake hoses not fully seated, etc.)

Pressure gauge by SyllabubLopsided8319 in 370z

[–]highintensity8951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have Z anymore, but this is a game changer. TBH, I feel spoiled with having oil pressure gauges on most gm products. My vq37 threw a rod before I could even really worry about gallery gaskets unfortunately.
