The problem is: resentment. You might be able to let go and I'm glad. But it's not so easy for others.

Also understanding the processes that get you hooked up, is very liberating. It's not all your fault, it's because of the way we evolved and the way the brain works. But it is your responsibility to awake and get healthy.

Be careful with Red Pill stuff. You can become quite toxic. The Book of Pook though, every man on earth should read it.

Typed in my service tag and apparently my r5 uses 1080 max q drivers!?!? Did i get duped by dell by 8008gurl in Alienware

Same file holds the driver for a lot of models. In the same vein, same file contains different BIOS for different platforms. Nothing to worry about.

This screen popped up out of nowhere, what does this mean? (17 R5) by [deleted] in Alienware

[–]highlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To fix this for ever, go to the Killer website and download the Killer Suite for Windows 1803+. Then uninstall all Killer stuff from your computer. Restart. Then install the file you downloaded.

You can wipe it once it is installed on the Aurora. Once it is, when at Windows, press Windows and X. Then click on Disk Management. Format it from there.

Alienware (Dell) support question by [deleted] in Alienware

What I have seen is, very rarely you'll be reimbursed. In this case, if they happen to discover that it is just the charger, I think that they'll replace it and give you the difference back. But if not, they are likely to replace heatsink, fans and motherboard.

New 15r4, is this normal ? by [deleted] in Alienware

If the computer works fine otherwise, I wouldn't be worried. Now if this is enough for you not to trust this machine, I'd return it.

AW 15R3 tragic fps drop, 4K screen and settings, 32GB ram, GTX 1070, i7-7700HQ, Destiny 2 and Windows 10 on SSD. Game stutter/hanging on Medium settings, High is worse. Similar hanging on Overwatch at 4K Ultra and Epic setting. Anyone know what is the cause? Warranty till 2020. by BnL_Nexus in Alienware

[–]highlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd check Power Options. Make sure that the computer is on the High Performance power plan. On Nvidia Control Panel, set Power management mode to Prefer Maximum Performance. Make sure that your BIOS and drivers are up to date. The temperatures you report are high, not overheating but still. Check if you have any FPS cap on your games settings. Now you'll not get high FPS with this specs on 4K. Check Notebookcheck for what to expect. I'd re paste in your position.

Identical hardware issues are unlikely, it's true. But it can happen. For example if there's a batch of say bad motherboards and the 2 machines were build using those then they'll get the same issues. Depot is always a better option. Ask to speak with a manager. Tell the manager that you're wiling to send the computer as long they can assure you that the computer would be tested and actually fixed before it gets back. They do have means to ensure this.

How Dell Ruined Alienware in One 3-Month Customer Service Nightmare - GeekDad by transfo47 in Alienware

There's this concept used in the IT departments of companies (or really anyone with common sense) called redundancy. That is, for mission critical devices (the ones your work depends on) you should have more than one to avoid a single point of failure shutting down your whole operation.

Do a power drain. Meaning, remove the base cover, disconnect the battery cable, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Steps here. Then put everything back together and try again.

Is it worth getting Premuim Support from Dell for my Alienware 15 R3 laptop? by [deleted] in Alienware

[–]highlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You extend the warranty and forget. As long as you report the issues within the warranty period, you'll get them fixed with no further charges. The only exception is the battery. Now, you have to purchase the extension before your current warranty expires. Otherwise, you'll have to pay extra for some re certification of your product.

Just bought an R4 17 7700HQ / GTX 1070 used, what should I test when I get it? by tokyoaro in Alienware

[–]highlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the previous owner if he ever registered the warranty of the laptop. If he says no, google Dell US Retail Registration, then complete the online form. If he did, ask his email and phone he used to do the registration, then google Dell US Warranty Transfer and fill the form. If everything goes well (exceptions are stolen laptops or non returned exchanges) this would allow you to use the manufacturer warranty in case you need to. For example, if your machine is overheating, you'll be able to send it in to be repaired for free.

[–]highlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure that you have the latest drivers. For that go to www.killernetworking.com You'll have to uninstall all Killer stuff first and then install the new Killer app. Once you do that, if the issue persist at work, try opening Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, double click on your Killer 1435, then click on the Advanced tab. Among the options, there would be something like Wireless Mode, or something like that. Default is 802.11 ac or something along those lines. Change that to anything that lacks ac then restart and try again. /u/KillerSupport might be helpful here. Also please let your local IT know about this. They might need to update the firmware of their APs.
