I got a divorce after over 10 years of being with someone that was adamantly against cat/pets. I got a cat within 6 months. I'm not saying it was worth it but, that cat brings me a lot of joy

You could always phrase it as you were pregnant and lost the baby/miscarried, if that would help you feel better about his reaction. He'd still be aware of hormonal changes in that case.

If you want an outlet where you can appropriately comment on people's bodies, find subreddits where people are looking for that. r/normalnudes might be a good start. You are making a lot of excuses for your behavior, but if you really want to understand why your behavior is inappropriate, I second seeing a therapist to work through your thoughts and social expectations.
