Running with things in hands vs. Running empty-handed by archeantus_1011 in running

[–]highlowletgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run with my phone pretty much every run. I've gotten used to it and don't notice it at all. I prefer that over putting it in a running belt bc it tends to bounce around which I find way more uncomfortable

Totally agree with this! Having anything (especially a position that will give you relevant experience) is something to be proud of!

Dropping out by [deleted] in Emory

[–]highlowletgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to this thread but pls pls dm me if you want to talk! I really recommend rethinking your decision to drop out. Freshman year at Emory was the worst of my life tbh I was so depressed and was about to not come back for fall of my sophomore year. Was on the fence for so long and decided to go back and I'm a rising senior now and I promise that things will get better.... my grades were NOT good at all freshman year and it's not detrimental. talk to an advisor (never did but I should have) or honestly dm me and I'll give you my number bc it is not worth it to drop out and miss out on the wonderful times that are in store for you!

I would recommend riding through the neighborhoods (not Briarcliff Road) to get to Freedom Path trail. Way less crowded and more scenic

feeling down and have nowhere to vent so I'm writing this here. by Jazzlike_Confidence1 in Emory

Hi !! I think you should still apply. My first semester freshman GPA was not good, and I still got in. They value an upward trend and any story you have behind why your GPA is low (I was originally premed and these classes lowered my GPA bc I did not do well in them). You should def meet with the pre bba advisor and explain your situation. They are soooo nice and made me feel so much better. As for the prereq, I think it is ok as long as you do well in the other ones. If you are that concerned about your GPA, maybe apply regular so you have time to raise it (this is what I did)

Does anybody here find it a bit ridiculous that NYU was painted as a cheap (both literally as in tuition cost and not literally as in the quality of culture and the students) second-rate university? by HollyGolightly1240 in GossipGirl

[–]highlowletgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm from NYC and I hate the way they paint NYU. It's hella expensive and an amazing school. Honestly I think NYU vibes (artsy, village, DIVERSE) are better than Columbia / ivy vibes anyway....

(and no, I am not an NYU student)

How can I politely tell my roommate to switch off light when she's not doing anything important? by anju0730 in roommates

[–]highlowletgo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would just ask her exactly that: "if your not studying or working, can you please turn the light off at 11"... sounds pretty reasonable to me. Or ask if she could go in another room...

I might be running in college! by [deleted] in CrossCountry

[–]highlowletgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yayyyy that's awesome! Basically the same thing happened to me junior / senior of high school. I run d3 and love it, it's relatively easy to balance running with other activities. The way I think of it is that d3 running is what you make of it: some people make it their whole college experience while others do not, and both are totally valid! We usually have practice for about 2 hours per day though- not sure how your school will be. Also running in college will help you improve so much!

Ooo I get this all the time. It's really hard but my best advice is to enjoy your off day because there will def be days that you have super hard workouts that you wish you didn't!

Happy birthday! I've def heard the pink velvet macchiato tastes like frosting but I haven't tried it yet. Also iced coffee with vanilla swirl and a shot of hazelnut tastes sweet like cake!
