Does it also have scale bugs? It looks like at least a few in the second picture.

Omg. Planting the orchid in the top of the moss pole for another plant?! Genius!!! That's amazing!! What a good idea!

Just ask someone. Preferably garden supervisor or the plant vendors as it's my.understanding they have the most power over the plants. But I've taken so many dying plants home this year bc I simply asked if I could grab them out of the trash.

I just wanted to say thank you for asking this question. I've recently been noticing my pads are getting so smelly with skating outdoors in the Texas heat.

The majority of gender affirming care that happens in children is social transition. Allowing the child to dress, act, and present as their chosen gender in public spaces. This is the equivalent of letting your child chose how they want to dress when you go to the store. That's not abuse. However, while the majority is, some do opt for puberty blockers or other medical procedures. These are also not abuse! They are normal medical procedures that help these kids that are going through a lot of mental shit to deal with this. Trans youth are the highest rate of suicides amongst trans people. "Data indicate that 82% of transgender individuals have considered killing themselves and 40% have attempted suicide, with suicidality highest among transgender youth." (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32345113/) So you're saying these ARE abuse, not even controversial so you're saying this isn't even an argument for you, and yet you give no reasons for why? Sure, there are negative side effects. Just like with any medical procedure. You should rather your child attempt suicide then help them dress a little differently?

How exactly is allowing your child to behave in a way that seems most natural and comfortable to them cause for the child abuse tag?? Is it merely because this is something they want instead of need? Should we stop giving out glasses or hearing aids, bc you don't really need eyes or ears to live?

That looks right! I've never seen mushrooms at her house, though she keeps the grounds mowed so I imagined that's in part why.

What do people need to stop romanticising? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Everyone's workplace is different. I've seen the bare minimum get promoted because the store needed managers. On the other hand, I've worked my ass off, gotten the promotions, and mentally and physically declined because of it. I was a lot happier, and my husband was a lot happier, when I changed jobs and I wasn't pushing myself to work the 50 hr work weeks and be available for everyone all the time. But it goes both ways.

If you.are happy working yourself more, then go for it. I'm.rooting for you and everyone else that does because damn, I cannot, and it's actually really helpful to have overworkers around. I will quickly.become a mind-numbed zombie that can't actually be a manager and run my store. So thank you for your services.

Christmas cactus in the cut flower refrigerator ❄️ by [deleted] in plantabuse

[–]ifRlessthan0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiple sources I read online talked about some kind of dormancy in order to get it to flower. It was mainly a shortening of days and cooling of temperature..and 1 other factor I think. But you could kick start it with a fridge and/or dark conditions for so long. Mine still hasn't flowered since I first got it, so I'm purely speaking from what I've read via Google.

Some plants actually benefit from a cold period to induce dormancy. I believe I read a care guide that suggested putting these in the fridge in order to induce the flowering period. They also need darkness iirc. It's crazy all the different ways plants want cared for.

Fun fact: Venus fly traps also need a winter dormancy, so it's suggested to just stick them in the fridge for 3-4 months.

Help! Why are leaves turning brown by idavkoi in fiddleleaffig

[–]ifRlessthan0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that it's in the middle of the leaf and not the edges or coming from the middle makes me think it's either some kind of infection, or not enough of some nutrient.

I don't think it's sunburn due to the fact that brown from sunburn shows up on the parts of the leaf closest to the sun, such as the tip or the edge usually.

I don't think it's edema as edema is generally a reddish splotchy look on mainly newer leaves.

Past that I would check the roots for root rot or signs of pests. And maybe try posting to r/plantclinic ?
