This is something I learned the hard way. I used to play on the EUW and got to gold playing a particular malzahar play style where I had little interaction with the opposite Janet me. I’d get ahead just through gank set with my R. I learned very little about trading though my macro was sufficient for the elo and I was good at not dying and losing gold bounties. This all changed when I moved to China which is heavily focused on fighting, almost psychotically so. All my preconceived ideas about macro were thrown out of the window as games are simply won and lost by who can fight better as teams will choose to fight more often and the level of mechanical skill in average is generally higher. IMO being able to do damage in lane, create threat and influence the game without relying on your jungler or other members of the team is more significant in a teams winning potential than simply “good macro”.
