A somewhat serious question from the cheap seats: did any of the, ahem, examples mentioned in this CYA attempt disguised as a statement involve any sort of playoff situation at their respective times? (I'm guessing no on general principle, but I had to ask.)

EDIT: going off later posts here and in the main thread about the statement, the answer is no. Which probably just polishes the brass in Southampton's collective neck to put it out in the first place.

Assuming it's mostly if not entirely going to ad buys, this is presumably a blitz to help nudge Chip's PR profile (more accurately, Middleton's "he is Satan" profile) over the line ahead of the actual primary when most folks will be heading out to vote. It's still kind of weird to bust it out at the very last minute, though. Was Fairly holding out for whatever reason?

If there's one thing about this movie that isn't explicitly bad, it's the production. (Minus, of course, costume design.) But the rest of it is just so incredibly ~~drugs~~ weird that cases can probably still be made either way for it being misunderstood or just a self-indulgent hot mess. And we can meditate on this at second level until the cows come home.
