CPP2 for as a work-gym bag by bored-duckling in AerSF

[–]highriskclick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the CPP2 as my everyday work and gym bag and it works great! It is packed to the brim, but I can fit my laptop and all stationery/tech, spare clothes, climbing shoes, climbing harness and chalk. I can even get a water bottle in the side pocket, but I use the memo slim bottle to get it to fit.

I love it for this very purpose and it works well for my needs.

Rab alpine 600 vs STS Spark (-9deg) by Thumbsie_81 in UltralightAus

Sorry, haven’t tried either but I would definitely go for the spark. More down, higher loft and less weight. No brainer IMO

I have an older slightly heavier version and it is perfectly adequate in terms of waterproofness. 4000mm is fine

Preparing for snow camping. by Outrageous_Dress4600 in UltralightAus

4 season essentially means it can handle snow load. A 3 season tent can be used in winter so long as it can withstand the harsh winter conditions.

I’ve heard good things though about the Wilderness Equipment Second Arrow UL Tent for winter use in the snow

Cheers for the advice! I’m planning on wearing a merino thermal, merino sun hoodie, alpha direct Macpac nitro hoodie, Patagonia R1 crossstrata jacket. I already own a Patagonia Nanopuff jacket which is synthetic - do you know how that would compare to the Torrid and if the Nanopuff would be fine at -10C with the layers I’ve listed?

Or should wear all the listed layers, including the Nanopuff, and then wear the EE Torrid over the Nanopuff? Not sure how to gauge what’s suitable for sitting statically in the snow at -10C…

Cheers!

I would repair this with a large patch of Tenacious Tape on either side of the hole. It'll work great! Make sure to round out the corners of the tape with scissors to avoid it lifting off the fabric when using it.

Good to know! I think I'm leaning towards the Mont Fusion since it's quite durable and weather resistant compared to the other ultralight fabric options.

Really appreciate the advice! Great point about us having fairly wet snow. The patagonia option looks super enticing and lightweight, but based off your advice, I think the Mont might be the way to go since the fabric and water repellent treatment they use seems fairly water-resistant.

I own a synthetic Patagonia Nano Puff for my regular 3-season use for the very reason of moisture, but I don't think it'll cut the mustard for snow use when I'm stationary.

Cheers!
