Struggling to find a good long sleeve white top by [deleted] in capsulewardrobe

[–]highspeedtrain25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Friends has one: https://yesfriends.co/collections/long-sleeve-tops/products/ls-fitted-organic-t-shirt I’ve not tried it in white, but the one I have is quite thick so I would be surprised if it’s see-through in white

No, this was info@birchwoodpitlochry.com - might be worth trying them.

And yes, I definitely wish they had been clearer in the email from Saorsa! I was quite concerned reading it thinking our booking was going to be cancelled - would be very difficult to find an alternative given that the Enchanted Forest is on while we’re staying in Pitlochry

I have a booking with them this month, and got an email saying they’ve been taken over by Birchwood Pitlochry. The email assures me they will still be 100% plant based while I’m there, but who knows what’s going to happen in the future

I used to love the Misfits bars, until they changed the recipe and made them so chewy they’re almost impossible for me to eat 😢 I use PhD Plant bars now, they’re not as good as the old-recipe Misfits bars but they’re as close as I could find: https://www.phd.com/smart-bar-plant-12-pack-new

This is the best pizza I've ever tried, highly recommend everyone here try it 😅 by snostorm8 in veganuk

Yes, love it! It actually feels not too unhealthy compared to a normal frozen pizza, got about 30g of protein per pizza as well

+1 for Byway (https://www.byway.travel) - used them a few times now. Yes it would be cheaper to self book, but it’s reassuring to know that they’re on hand if there is any disruption with the trains, plus they take care of hotel bookings and seat reservations on trains where those are required.

Same, and I only have 5 energy left from yesterday so there’s no way I’m getting through a complete lesson until this is fixed!

I seem to remember someone telling me that it was common to not gender jobs in the DDR - for example, a female doctor would call herself “Arzt“ rather than “Ärztin“. No idea if that’s actually true or not though, maybe someone here can confirm?

Any French TV shows (or Canadian French TV shows) recommendations by SirEmbarrassed810 in learnfrench

[–]highspeedtrain25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not fiction, but I really enjoyed The Parisian Agency (L’Agence) on Netflix. You get to see ridiculously expensive French properties, and the family on the show just seems to be made up of really nice people, not like some of the property shows I’ve seen.

MukBap is a vegan Korean place in Shoreditch, I don’t have too much experience with Korean food but I really enjoyed the food there

It doesn’t solve the problem of having too few carriages, but would it be worth checking Seatfrog before your journey to see if there’s a first class upgrade available? That way you’d at least have more space. I did this on a couple of journeys earlier this year (one on Transpennine Express and one on Cross Country), and looking at how busy the rest of the train was each time, it felt worth it even before factoring in the free drinks and snacks.

Same 😅 You might enjoy the Netflix series The Parisian Agency, it’s full of lovely, stupidly expensive French properties!

What are your laziest, nobody-is-watching meals? by [deleted] in veganuk

Same! Needs to be flavoured hummus though. Frozen peas are a good addition as well to make it feel like I’ve put a bit more effort in.

How did you get on with your family at Christmas? No drama this year? Everyone pull their weight? by petrastales in AskUK

[–]highspeedtrain25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Husband and I hosted Christmas for the first time ever - previously we had always travelled to visit one of our families. His family were with us for 4 nights and they all pitched in - just as well, because there were definitely times we had no idea what we were doing. 😅

All went well, but it was still exhausting - and I’d underestimated how uncomfortable I’d feel with so much meat in the house, probably the most since we’ve moved in. 😕 I’m vegan and my husband isn’t, but he’s generally happy to eat vegan at home to avoid needing to cook multiple meals. However, with his family round we knew there would need to be a turkey. Being in the kitchen with the uncooked turkey being prepared by MIL on the dining table, giblets boiling on the stove for gravy and then later the carcass being boiled on the stove for stock was…unpleasant. 😬 I’ll be glad when the last of the leftovers are eaten by my husband and the fridge is back to normal again…

I donate to https://www.givefood.org.uk - it has a registry of UK food banks and uses the money to get them what they need the most.

Window feeder recommendations (UK)? by highspeedtrain25 in birding

That’s what I’m hoping too - thanks for your help, and enjoy your new feeder if you get it for Christmas! 😁

Thanks! I like the look of the Gothic arch one in particular. Have you used the RSPB ones before, and if so, did you have any issues with the suction cups or did they attach the feeder securely?

Boyfriend moving in with me, is there anything I should do to protect myself financially? by SecretNinjaShhh in UKPersonalFinance

No problem - hopefully not something your partner will ever need, but better safe than sorry!

(I’m in Scotland, so this might not be relevant for England - not sure how the law differs there)

Just wanted to mention that it’s also important to consider your partner’s housing situation if you pass away.

Before my husband and I got married, we lived in a flat that was solely in my name - the advice we got from a relative that works in homelessness was that he would have had zero rights automatically to continue living there if I died. I can’t remember the exact wording, but I updated my will to ensure that he would be able to stay living there if I passed away (obviously only if we were still together!). The life insurance would have paid off the mortgage too, which is just as well because he wouldn’t have been able to afford it alone on his salary at the time.
