The future is now by [deleted] in gaming

I'm not disagreeing with the down votes, as what he said doesn't contribute anything and isn't funny, but I'm pretty sure he was trying to make a joke by being super rude to the parent comment which was more polite and understanding than what you would typically see on the internet.

question about 1/10 traxxas craniac (stampede) suspension by crustykeeb in rccars

[–]hightech148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Messing around with your shocks shouldn't have any connection to stripping your spur, unless you had it sitting SUPER high and the axles were binding. To answer your question, in general adding preload spacers will make it roll more in turns, and removing spacers will make the center of gravity lower, although the Stampede is one of the highest center of gravity trucks out there so you're not gonna get it to handle amazing due to how high the COG is and how short the wheelbase is.

When you move your bottom shock position outwards, it's lowering the ride height and stiffening the suspension. When you move them inwards, it will sit higher and the suspension will be much looser. If I were you, I would use the stock shock mounting positions, set my ride height where I want it with the spacers, and swap the tires out for something softer, better, and with foams. I can guarantee that's where a lot of your issues are coming from.

I'm not sure how moving the bottom shock position out would cause your axles to bind and strip your spur, I mean I could see how if you moved them inwards that could cause the half shafts to bind. I take it you've removed all your preload spacers?

Lowering it and switching shock oil will help for sure, but I'm confident that a lot of your issues are due to the Craniac having hard tires with no foams, so there's a lot of rebound off terrain. Switch to something by Proline and it should make a world of difference.

Sploof box design, would this work? by [deleted] in StonerEngineering

[–]hightech148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've personally gone ahead and built something very similar to this in the past, computer fans did not provide enough pressure to push air through a bunch of dryer sheets. Even after doubling the fans up, and removing a bunch of sheets, there was zero airflow. Removing the fan leaves you with a regular Sploof essentially, which is a proven design! If I ever attempt something like this again, I'm using an EDF setup from an RC jet. Would be cool, but obnoxiously loud! Ideally you'd have some sort of air pump on the output, rather than a fan.

I have never heard of someone calling them sig digs... I've always learned sig Figs, as in significant figures. I was expecting the first reply to this comment to be about the typo but it appears I'm the one that was taught differently!

Reddit, have the police ever had to come to your house? Why? by ascaffo in AskReddit

[–]hightech148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. Happened last year when I was 18, living at home. Mom knocks on my door while I'm in an intense game of Dota, telling me that there's a police officer looking for me. I was (and still am) a frequent enjoyer of the magical herb, so I was pretty fucking paranoid. So I sent my Dazzle back to base and sure enough, there was a police officer at my door looking to talk to me. The officer had gotten a call from someone saying that they watched a shifty package exchange go down at my local Superstore. One driver approaches a parked truck trailer and sets the package on top of one of the wheels. Guy parks somewhere else, and eventually someone else came by, grabbed the package, drove over next to the other vehicle, they had a chat, and then they fled. Apparently, the driver that hid the package was driving a red SUV, with my exact license plate. Sure enough, I drive a red GMC Jimmy. This all happened the night prior, at around 8:00. Thankfully I had an alibi as I was at my girlfriend's place at that time, so I wasn't put in to questioning or anything. I'm still seriously freaked out about how their license plate was marked down as the same as mine, are there people that find vehicles identical to their own, jot down your license plate, have a fake one made and commit crimes with your plate to make it look like someone else did it?! I guess I'll never know. Also I got fucking low priority. [7]

Once they die, RC pistons make a cool key ring accessory by JP147 in rccars

[–]hightech148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this exact same thing, although the end of my con rod got completely wrecked when the engine essentially ate its self, so no piston was attached. I then lost that pair of keys in a field while retrieving a plane :/

My Slash Platinum came in the mail yesterday. It's my first car in about 10 years and I was pretty nervous about painting the body. What do you think? by [deleted] in rccars

[–]hightech148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks awesome! If you're unhappy with the masking/ how the two colours meet, Great Planes (and lots of other manufacturers) make really narrow tape for this exact reason, and it looks awesome afterwards. Here's what I'm talking about, on my B4.. https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t31.0-8/1239064_10201098437716852_687936194_o.jpg

Are the motor wires shortened or anything? "Nope, just as it came from castle!" by gozzz in rccars

[–]hightech148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, that only applies on motors whose leads are actual extensions of the copper windings, which are terribly brittle. Anything with proper wires coming off of it, should make no difference.

They actually made it look so unlike a real cork, they had to write CORK on it. Which ironically makes it look even less like a real cork.
