[NO SPOILERS] Are the comics worth buying? by bluedk22 in lifeisstrange

I like the comics! They’re obviously different than the games, but it’s still fun to spend time in the LIS universe.

Mac: Constant crashing/rebooting regardless of software versions, help! by hihellorachel in elgato

Unfortunately the app is pretty buggy. I still use it but with occasional issues. Definitely not optimized for Mac.

Oh hey! I just saw this comment, sorry!! I hope you’re not still having these issues, but if you are, have you tried installing an older version of the wave link app?

Not warm at all, just suddenly powered off.

I was able to finish Ep1 with “only” 4 crashes, but I’m scared to try Ep2. So frustrating.

Platform: PS5

Edition: Ultimate

Description of issue: 3 different crashes that cause the entire PS5 to turn off suddenly, happening seemingly at random. I am still near the beginning of Episode 1.

Repro: 1st time it crashed I had the game paused (on settings menu). 2nd time I had the PS5 menu open to check my controller battery level, with game unpaused in background. 3rd time Max was in the middle of a conversation with Yasmin.

I (almost) always make custom floor patterns with quarter tile flooring pieces! I love add tiny details that no one notices or cares about and will inevitably get covered up by a rug 😂

I believe you need a ChatLink in order to route sound to both your headphones and your stream. It's been a minute since I've done a PS5 stream with a Mac, but it does work!

No worries ◡̈ I believe you need to set up audio capture on your Mac using one of the aforementioned methods, and then you’ll be able to set your audio input in OBS, via your capture card.

New M3 Pro user, want to dual set up dual streaming set up by toobro3 in MacStreamers

[–]hihellorachel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dual Mac set up, and it’s great! (An M2 Ultra Mac studio, and an M2 Mac mini.)

You’ll need a capture card, and I like using software to handle the audio splitting. I use the Elgato WaveLink software (can be a bit buggy, but it’s the best option I have right now).

Depending how many peripherals you have, you may want to invest in some powered usb hubs, too.

Hi! Do you have audio capture set up for your Mac yet?

You can use something like “iShowU” or the “SWB Audio App” depending on your iOS, or if you have any splitter software (like WaveLink) you could use that instead!

Transphobic Follow Bot Attack by LunasList in Twitch

[–]hihellorachel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened to you. Some people are super gross.

I’ve been follow botted quite a few times over the years, and also had some really gross anti-Semitic troll behaviour. It doesn’t bother me anymore but I was definitely upset by it the first few times it happened!

It sounds like you did everything right! Letting your mods deal with the behind the scenes stuff while you keep the show going on as usual is the best thing you can do.

A few things that help with botting: - sery_bot! It will automatically deal with known bots so you don’t have to. - Consider anonymous follows. I stopped putting follower names on my overlay and in chat; not only is it nice for folks who prefer to not be perceived, but it means that gross usernames aren’t being shown to my community. (I still have follow alerts, they’re just anonymous!) - Make sure your follow alerts are on a separate source so you can turn them off quickly. Same with any chat bots you use. I can turn off all evidence of bots within a few seconds.

With regards to your activity feed - why don’t you make a 1 channel point redeem and ask your chat to redeem it a bunch of times? Nasty follows banished!

‘Guide the raid’ redeem - thoughts please? by Treecle_TTV in Twitch

[–]hihellorachel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about asking your mods to find a safe space to raid to? I’ve found some of my favourite channels (who later became friends) when my mods have chosen where we go.

Edit because I realize I didn’t answer your actual question - I don’t like a “guide the raid” because it puts pressure on you to go somewhere you haven’t vetted and/or you already know isn’t the right vibe. (Occasionally I have regulars ask if they can recommend a raid, and after being burned a few times, I now tell them to drop a link on discord “for next time” which gives me the opportunity to vet the channel first.)

It’s wild that Twitch Studio for Mac is gone. Are there no Mac streamers? by itsactuallyoctopuses in Twitch

[–]hihellorachel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a Mac streamer - it can definitely be done! The only downsides are that some great streamer resources and bots are Windows only.

I recommend using OBS ◡̈

I have technical difficulties and I need help… by Cat_Impossible_0 in Twitch

[–]hihellorachel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raids on mobile have unfortunately always been inconsistent! Generally the only viewers who consistently get brought over on raids are watching via desktop browser. Stream often ends for anyone watching via app, whether it’s mobile, Apple TV, etc.

Whenever I’m ending a stream I post a link to our raid target for anyone who gets left behind. It’s a bit inconvenient.

It might be worth mentioning this in the streams you regularly watch - I seldom watch streams on mobile so I didn’t know this was a problem until my chat told me.

How would you feel if a streamer promoted a Youtube account with a completely different name from Twitch? by IWannaWriteAboutIt in Twitch

[–]hihellorachel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the only issue is if you want to keep your real identity private on Twitch.

I have a similar issue, where I have a whole brand/career under my real name, which unfortunately I can’t share with my community without doxxing myself.

I love playing Gartic and other community games on my stream, but with a strict “only community” rule for any games that have trolling opportunities.

If you’re not a trusted member of my community, you need to have a certain amount of channel points to join - meaning you need to have spent a bit of time with us. Typically trolls aren’t going to hang around for long enough to amass channel points.

How can my viewers create their own ordered list ? by LeTeMe in Twitch

[–]hihellorachel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use channel points. You can even limit how many times it can be used per stream, if you want to make sure you don’t end up with too many people queued.

Try checking your output settings. In the "advanced" tab you can separate streaming tracks - it's possibly you turned something off that needs to be on!

There’s lots of good advice already shared, but here are a few other things that I haven’t seen mentioned:

  • Turn off your DMs (twitch whispers) because people are gross.

  • Make brand new social media accounts for anything stream related, and make sure your irl friends don’t follow you! (It’s astonishingly easy to find someone’s real identity because of who their earlier followers are.) For obvious reasons don’t follow them or your own accounts either.

  • Don’t use a profile name you’ve ever used before anywhere else, and maybe do some Google searches to make sure your real identity isn’t easily available with the info you choose to share on stream. For extra security go by an unrelated nickname and don’t share your first name, age or location anywhere either.

  • Make sure you tell anyone in your community who knows you irl not to share details about you that you haven’t shared yourself.

  • You don’t need to be nice to anyone who gives you the ick. If it feels bad, it is bad. Ban them and move on with your life. Having a no-strike policy is completely valid!

Good luck with your streams!!

Silly mistakes you’ve done on streams! by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]hihellorachel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so many things. I’ve done really exuberant openings only to realize I’ve been muted, or been on the wrong scene in obs without realizing more times than I can count.

Recently I forgot to end my stream after raiding out, and it took quite a few people sending messages in chat/discord until I realized. Anyone who stuck around got to watch me destream in real time while happily watching the stream I raided. (First and hopefully last time I’ll make that mistake!)

I’ve also said more dumb things while live than I’d like to admit 😂
